NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I agree, I can’t see why people think technology like DLSS is a bad thing. The way I see it is essential going forward as hardware is never going to keep pace while we are stuck with conventional silicon chips. We need to get away from trying to brute force performance with more transistors and use the transistors we have more effectively and DLSS does exactly that.

Do I wish it was an open standard? Yes of course but something is better than nothing.

Hmm, it's really a shame that AIB's haven't tried any custom designs to double the 3080 memory to 20GB, I thought they may have had a bit of freedom to 'play' with the specs there.
That's what they are saying. Inside job and a reward is up for grabs for info.
Knowing MSI they probably arranged it and the cards will be in sale in some subsidiary shell company soon. :D

Nvidia has locked AIB down to FE specs on the last few generations - it sucks, it was fun when AIB could change the memory as they want

Hmm, price of the 3080's for pre-order seem to be coming down at the moment... my local store (non-EU) now has Gigabyte Eagles for £670. I guess (hope) this lowering of prices towards MSRP levels is in anticipation of an increase in stock early next year.

Its a shame that isn't translated over to the UK!

While UK prices won't ever be as low, it's a very likely that this lowering of price will happen in the UK too next year when cards start arriving in greater quantities.

I like your optimism :p

With the way our ports are backlogged, the ones arriving on our shores today won't get to the shops until Easter :D

We've always been more expensive. Being an EU member did not make anything cheaper, not for consumers at any rate. Maybe everyone else has been living it up, but consumers have been paying through the nose for decades.

If you monitor the pound, it only worsens when talk of no deals or most things to be fair.. I know one day it will have a lift, but unless it rises against the other currencies your imports and not getting any cheaper. In fact all I hear is the naysayers saying everything will only be more expensive, so happy to listen on your comments of bending over an thats just the way its always been?

Not compared to the rest of the EU we don’t and differences are mainly down to taxation currency fluctuations. If you actually compare to the EU, generally the U.K. has lower taxes during normal non-reduced VAT times. That does come at a price though.

Once you add in the fact the £ dived since the brexit vote and never recovered....

If your comparing to the US, they list their prices EX-tax as it differs by location and their tax rates are generally lower. However, I’d rather I’d rather be in the U.K./EU with our higher standards and health care ;)

It worsens because traders always **** themselves unnecessarily. ;)
