NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I recall people at the time of Turing release saying that, we should get the answer fairly soon. Of course that would mean a 3070 being closer to 2080 following that logic

Just what popped up on a quick search:

1070 >980 Ti.

And cost less:

The 70 series from a new generation provided the performance of the previous generations xx80Ti and did it for less money.

The Nvidia marketing people should manage political campaigns. They can really divert public perception away from reality.

Also the generation before that the gtx 970 brought top end performance at an affordable price.

Any news on the new cards ? Or is the current situation delaying things?

Someone posted a link on the last page but the numbers looked a bit off.

It said q3 for 3070 and 3080, q4 3080ti.

Might be fake news though.

Apparently they are starting to sell off the 2080 cheap in other countries so could mean something soon.

This to me points to a 3080Ti release first... as selling the most expensive card first always means you sell more of them, otherwise you have the risk that people will buy the cheaper cards first, find that performance is ok and then stick with them.

So... I am thinking 3080Ti and Ryzen 9 with 32GB RAM and a 2TB SSD and then sitting pretty for the next 3-5 years. It's just a shame that AM5 and USB 4.0 won't make it to AMD this year.

I think the logic of getting in quick with a 3080Ti makes commercial sense i.e. before Navi 2X as that's when it will be most valuable but Nvidia are going to want to keep a product in response maybe that is a Titan or something else they will definitely want contingency though. Would be a ballsy move too showing confidence and dominance tbh I hope they do release it

Next gen 5nm, AM5, usb4, DDR5 is still 2 years away - only in 2022

I won't upgrade straight away amd has a history of buggy new platforms.

So I'm happy with the 3950x and will upgrade in 2023

Get your £1499 ready and fight over the only 1 in stock in the UK. ;)

Rather have a LG OLED C9 and a bit of cash.

yes but we are forgetting the forgettable 2000 series remember so a 3070 = 2080S > 1080Ti

its not like we have any say it anyway, just killing time at this point tbh
