NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

/Rumour control here

So based on the leaked info here is what I figure (performance wise).
  • The RTX 3060 should land just above the 2070 Super, but slightly below the 2080 Super.
  • The RTX 3070 should land above the 2080 Super, but fall just short of the the 2080ti. (might pop it's head in front on an few games).
  • The RTX 3080 will be roughly 15% faster than the 2080ti.
  • And RTX 3080Ti will knock the ball out of the park at roughly 40% faster than the 2080ti. (But yeah... get ready to sell an liver ££££).
So the real question will the RTX 3080 offer better value this time around?
Or will the RTX 3070 be king of the price vs performance?

Or will AMD crash the party and totally wreck'em on price and performance lol. :D
(Personally I cannot see AMD getting anywhere near to the RTX 3080Ti, that thing is going to be an beast, but lower down maybe).

What do you reckon chaps?

@chiakokhua
Why did you delete the tweet on the Nvidia 3xxx series ?

I deleted it because I’m not sure the info is accurate.

I have long been a PC gamer but seriously the £ some of you are stating as acceptable are just ludicrous.
I refused to buy a 2080 because of the cost and especially in current climate no matter whether its faster or not I would still have a roadblock paying anything over a grand.
And if the wife saw that in the bank statement i would probably be divorced after 41 years.

I think £500 is my limit and I would hope to get around £200 back for my old card. So would cost me around £300.

There is much better things to spend £2k on like OLED/QLED display and atmos 7.1.2 sound system.

I would rather be a couple of years behind on my graphics card performance and keeps costs to a reasonable amount.

I did, wasn't willing pay the 2080ti price to upgrade my now 3 year old 1080ti and there wasn't any other options so I brought nothing.

Same here, still rocking a 1070.

I won't pay the outrageous prices current at the moment, helped in no short part by the Space Invader problems early on.

If the 3 series continue with the high prices, then I'll be voting with my wallet again.

I've got loads of stuff to play that runs well with my 1070, as well as some stuff on the PS4.

I gave the 2 series a miss and I'm quite prepared to give the 3 series the same treatment.

Roll on the 4 series! :p

Same here, fed up with this routine every time a new card comes out it's bend over time, then we have the usual launch conveniences of "short supply" that lets retailers drive the price up even more. It really is just incredible how just about every time a card launched it's supply is constrained, almost like they were doing it on....yup.

Some people can afford (you know who you are) it so they can they can buy it. If so why not.

Thats why a lot of people went for the 5700XT as it hit the sweet spot people are willing to pay and you can pick them up for £340+ at the moment. I think definitely this time round the +£1000 cards there will be a lot less sales and after dabbling there last year I`m not going over £600 in the future. Personally I would rather get a LG C9 OLED which is around £1299 at the moment as it would get a lot more use. Weird thing was I got permission to get one from the other half which shocked me but I cant afford it anyway.

And going by the 2080ti launch are you surprised?

When the 10 and 20 series launched Nvidia had no competition. So they could charge much more. This time around there are the new consoles to consider. Those consoles will cost around £500 and will give 2080 Super performance. So they're not going to be able to charge anywhere near as much.

I doubt nvidia are even considering the consoles as some type of rival to their gpu's.

They should be. Home TVs are now often 4K and the new consoles will give playable frame rates at 4K. They will be good enough. And they're more than more than good enough for 1080p. The usual suspects will cry about 'max settings' and '60 fps' and the like but you don't need max settings or 60 fps to have fun.

They should consider consoles because I am. (and I'm probably not alone)

If consoles can run my driving sims on an HP Reverb at 90 FPS, Nvidia will have to compete directly with them for my money.

Nvidia's GPU's aren't really "needed" for anything other than gaming. I can build a powerful computer for everything I need other than gaming, migrate an old GPU into it, and then put one of the new consoles on the desk next to that computer and still have a bunch of extra money left for upgrading my wheel, or pedals or whatever.

There is a point where consoles can do the gaming job separately and make Nvidia's $1k GPU's obsolete for my purposes.

I don't know if the new consoles will get to that point, but Nvida better pay attention.

If they kept it to £2k I think they'd find plenty of buyers, hell I may even be tempted (and I've never gone full Titan before ;))
Hah. Even I have had a Titan! :p:D

Though funnily enough my relationship duration can be displayed using the exact same two numbers, just the other way around :p:D
