NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

4k is still for the insane/mad tbh :D

So is 175hz 3840x1600 you maniac :p :D. Once I have a gpu that can drive that correctly I’m buying one :p.

Looks amazing even on couch with a controller at 60hz for casual games. TW3 maxed 4k solid 60hz on OLED was like a brand new game compared to what I had experienced on consoles. Amazing experience. Same with rdr2, best game I’ve ever seen.

Still prefer 144hz+ for K+M on everything else however even over my OLED.

Some people here seem to be predicting that prices will fall. I can’t see it, myself. That would be very un Nvidia-like. If the economy really tanks and sales are poor then maybe they’ll drop a little, after a while. But Nvidia has always been about pushing to see what the market will tolerate.

That "market" didn't contain PS5 and XBOX X Series.

Just sayin' ;)

As is often the case in new graphic card threads, you seem to have completely overlooked the point that people are aware of all of the known moral and financial issues when buying an Nvidia card but want the fastest card and they can just afford it. Then you have the weird sentiment that is "you are a mug for buying at x price, please don't so the price comes down and then I can buy it" attitude thinking that someone's purchasing decision of luxury goods is based on someone else not being able to afford it.

I will buy a 3080ti when it comes out based purely on the numbers. Nothing to do with Nvidia marketing which is generally a cringe fest or Jensen's leather jackets. I imagine many buying them feel the same. It's a very simple, is it faster? The issue is the people who don't want people to spend their money how they want and resort to playground name calling.

And then you have some who assume people that don't buy something can't afford it.

If the only question is "Is it faster?" I would expect people to buy a lot more Titains.

The 4 stages of thought behind GPU upgrades...

1) Is it faster?
2) Is it faster enough to justify an upgrade?
3) Does the price represent reasonable value to me?
4) I don't care about 2 or 3 and will buy anyway.

Biot of luck they'll offer an Ampere Titan for 'HTC work' next week, if they do I can see them selling a *lot* of them! The things people will do to get a six-month head start!!! :D

No AMD will charge nVidia prices :p

Of course they will. When AMD had the chance to release a card first with nothing sight from Nvidia, they released the card at a high price. Talking about the 7970 they released at $549.

There might be a small price war, with game bundles or special offers on some GPUs. But there isn't going to be a large price drop no matter what level AMD compete at.

Getting back to the price of the next generation from Nvidia. I do think the 3xxx cards will be cheaper overall than what the Turing cards launched at. The 10nm, 7nm, and 7nm+ processes are very mature now. They have done the big spend with getting the Ray Traced hardware off the ground and there is no mining bubble.

40-50% over a 2080Ti I'd consider a good jump, which is should **** tbh.

But "The Best" is still the best...even if it's only by a small margin. So a $3k GPU that's 5% faster than a $600 GPU is still "The Best". Some people have suggested that's all that matters and the inability to fork out the money is the only barrier to why someone wouldn't get "The Best".

I'm talking about the general gaming line of 08/07/06/ti cards. For me the only question is the speed (although actually now I come to think about it manufacturer and cooler is also a small factor). That's just me though and for others it will be different.

No. Not talking about 3k Titans and never was. Can you point out the part where it was stated what you are suggesting for the bit I have highlighted? What matters to someone is for that individual. Some people go price/performance for example.

Or the couch gamers like myself.

I play sat back on the couch, still I only use 1440p.

To me sat back from the screen there doesn't seem to be much difference between 4k and 1440p apart from the framerate.

even when I get a new 3070 or whatever I will still be playing 1440.
