NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Haha. Your go to comment that. As explained before, I had an Titan XP and played all the demanding games I wanted then sold it. Until recently had a Vega 64 also. Currently all the games I am playing run without a problem on my 580. Actually the fans do not even spin on it right now as I am playing Final Fantasy 7 :p

The G-Sync screen is just waiting for the 3070 ;)
I'm definitely with you on holding out for the 3070! I'm no longer trying to keep up with the Jones as they say :p I'll be happy with 90-95% 2080 Ti performance for £450 ish but with better raytracing performance.

Looking forward to it! :D

I know :D

Although the 580 is a solid enough low-end card I just find it incredulous that you don't just whack a 1650/1660 in or something to at *least* make use of the bloody Gsync capabilities!!! :p
Basically went with what was cheapest is all. But I get what you mean. Had a 970 at one point but sold it as they go for about the same price as a 580 around these parts which is mad, but nvidia just commands more money. Like people happy to pay same money for a 1070 as a vega 56/64 yet the latter is much better.

So apparently these Ampere cards are supposed to be out at the same time Cyberpunk 2077 launches, sounds like the perfect combo to me!

The image on the left looks better to me! Why do we need RT?
The pre rendering lighting in that game is actually pretty good. But eventually having real time ray tracing will take the workload from the developer and allow more details. But you can see from the fps that the hardware isn't ready yet so the performance hit isn't worth it. Maybe the 3xxx cards will perform a lot better though.

Honestly, I agree, in this case the RT image looks off. Besides the puddles it's a big MEH. Though in its defense I will say that I think it's more because this is just a bunch of extra effects added as a goof rather than a game built around the RT capacity.

Any idea what the game is? If you look at the lighting on the black sacks next to the bin in the picture on the left, the lighting is all wrong, but yeah, not sure RT is a cure all for lighting effects.

Ghostrunner. Think there's still a day left for the demo on steam, give it a go, it's really good.

Jesus guys, do you judge the entirety of RT based on a poor example and implementation in a game or screenshot? Anyone with half a brain knows that it's early days yet and developers a) aren't used to it and b) haven't had the performance to use and implement it properly. People have been moaning about every new graphics feature since the 90's until it became mainstream. It was similar when AA was introduced and performance was terrible for a couple of generations, but you're probably mostly all too young to remember that. :D
