NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

The A100 (not GA100) has 66% higher transistor density than the 5700xt

AMD has some catching up to do. AMD was first to 7nm and now Nvidia has blown right by them.

The GA100 was not shown today, that card has 8200 cores and was not announced. Extrapolating it out, the GA100 is 63 billion transistors though die size is not known

You may as well say you're not buying. Surely performance is more important than saying what you will or won't buy at X price point?

Yeah, I used to get all hung up on naming, then they shifted everything about price point wise.

Now I set it at 50% performance increase at same price as last card I bought. If it doesn't fit that criteria, then I don't buy. That used to mean pretty much new GPU every generation, now it's looking like at least every other generation or more. Ultimately it means I spend less as I upgrade less often.

Yeah, @Panos convincingly disappears :p

If I could be asked I would dig up all his posts. Lol
The guy is a complete clown. He was convinced in the AMD Zen3 thread that AMD had given a September release date via their Twitter channel.

They haven't and never did. Yet still today he claims that you "just need to use Google to find the AMD September announcement".

He just can't admin he's wrong. Ever. He can't link to it because it doesn't exit. But he still insists he's right about it. Despite now saying he thinks it will be later??!

He's either a troll, or he's Donald Trump. "Never, ever admit you're wrong."

Lol. Seems he is active and posting. Wonder why he won't post in here? :p

I have an apology to make to all, i was getting amped (excuse the phrase) that NVIDIA would drop details about the next gen gaming cards, so was a bit dis-heartened to see no real info about them, having speculated earlier in the thread that the new cards or info was to be released today. Again I'm sorry if i lead you astray.

guess we'll have to wait closer to the end of the year for a possible announcement or release, even then its not guaranteed :(

Just noticed the "lockdown deals" thread got locked down. Lol.

The silly pricing is clearly starting to get to people. Hopefully nvidia take heed and price their stuff properly. As usual I will buy from whoever is the most competitive :)

It's been a predicted Q3/Q4 Ampere release for ages now... what information do you have that changed in the meantime?

Aren't you comparing this gen AMD with next gen Nvidia? I thought it was pretty obvious AMD will have a much denser/larger die for RDNA2. You could also say RDNA1 is much denser than Turing, look how huge Nvidias dies are on their "old" process. Apples to apples and all that

technically none, i was hoping that the next gen cards were going to get teased yesterday, and was left with egg on my face after the event. i take it NVIDIA will have another conference in Q3/Q4 that may have details about the gaming cards as you said?

Yes, it will be closer to the release date... as usual. Turing was announced 1 month before launch. Pascal less than one month before launch. I understand people are eager and hyped but maybe a dose of realism and not inventing imaginary announcement dates would be helpful to their stress levels.

For now, just relax and enjoy the A100 info and all of the rumours and leaked info flying around about the gamers cards, because that's all we will get until Nvidia make any formal announcements.:)

Don't beat yourself up, this isn't our first rodeo :P
Few were expecting explicit consumer GPU news, most were expecting enough Pro level news that could be extrapolated to consumer.

Instead all we got was an A100 will it / won't it be translated to consumer blue balls **** tease.

You should all wait anyways single atom transistors are on the horizon.

I'd at least wait for single quark transistors though. THEN enjoy gaming

we got to see Jensen's kitchen that was new info, but yeah was always going to be aimed at markets and investors. Later in the year we will have the usual unknowns around price, availability, what is the true performance, time lag to AIBs, when is the competition going to arrive etc. These are the big questions that frustratingly always come late in the day are just used to drive profit I'm sorry to say

A little thing called the Cornavirus ? Aug/Sept is not going to see a release this year. I expect it to be a few months after if not 2021. What will be interesting is the cards will have a date on them (which you can see via GPU-Z) so when they are released will be interesting to see what this date is. Will show you how much they are delayed if it is not a current date.
