Interesting. I know its off topic for the thread but do you mind disclosing what games? I've gone AMD for the first time in yonks and i've had no problems whatsoever. On that basis it seemed to me that AMD had pulled their finger out with regard to drivers and the issues of 3 or 4 years ago had been sorted. The only one I encountered was doom eternal having no HDR support, which didn't matter to me anyway as I don't have an HDR display.
I think if AMD can produce something that will compete up around the 3080 but at a lower price they will be on to a winner.
I bought Ryzen even though at the time intel was still the gamer chip of choice as it was a solid cpu at a good price point. I don't regret that at all. Hopefully AMD can do the same with their GPU.

AMD have shown that all they do now is follow nVidia's lead on pricing. No one is going to save us.
All well and good but as someone who had a GTX 780, GTX 1070, and a 1080ti before my current vega I can tell you Nvidia drivers can be a mess as well. Some of that mess is actually not something I would blame Nvidia for but rather Microsoft and their silly updates that break everything. The same can be said for AMD. I've personally run without issues for weeks and the last time I had issues it was due to windows updates as I had run without issues before that as well for ages. All I'm trying to say is no brand is without its issues and some issues are actually caused by something entirely different, like a **** show of MS updates.
Yeah and I feel it's way too soon for AMD to try that move. It feels like they think that the positivity around Ryzen is enough to warrant this. To me the GPU division has to stand on its own legs instead of hiding behind big brother Ryzen. I think that the 5700 series is a good first step, now lets see if they can follow up properly. I certainly hope so.

I've not experienced any driver related issues with Nvidia for years and years.
Yeah sadly MS have ***** about with things in Windows 10 that has broken drivers for both nVidia and AMD and especially nVidia with some of their approaches such as workarounds to make windowed mode G-Sync work.
Some of the 400 series drivers from nVidia have been a bit naff - I found the later 300 series pretty decent but there have been some with the 400 series with broken functionality and/or latency spiking and/or poor framerate in application that use certain hardware accelerated surfaces, etc. (which only seems to go away if you disable both G-Sync fully and ultra low latency mode).
Because the 2080Ti was on a huge chip and a lot of people were saying it was set at a high price to recoup R&D for RT. Also they had no competition. This time they will have both Co soles and RDNA2 to complete with.
We will see. I would be surprised if the cheapest 3080Ti cannot be had for under a grand.
People need to understand that just because prices went up exponentially with the 2080Ti, does not mean they will keep going up. History has shown they can come down also and there are many factors to this.
I would say you've been super lucky in that case, I've had far worse issues with Nvidia drivers than with AMD.

Yup, when I have my TV connected to my 1080Ti I get random driver crashes.
When I tried the 5700xt it was beyond a mess. I had more issues in a week than 10 years of pc gaming on various other cards amd and nvidia.
so many issues with the new 5700's.
It's really odd, I'm in the same camp as Hardware Unboxed with no issues. Maybe because I'm on X570, Zen2 and W10? A lot of the people with issues seemed to be on older chipsets or may just be coincidence.

With a good DLSS implementation AMD won't have a chance in Cyberpunk or any other game. I'd guess will be a lot a push towards "DLSS is good enough" to take nVIDIA's cards (far) ahead of competition. AMD needs a DLSS equivalent.
To the layman I agree, they won't know the difference between DLSS and non-DLSS, nor that it's not every game that has this feature, and there it's not a proper indication of future performance in other games. Though to be fair to Nvidia DLSS 2.0 looks good and it's a smart move by them. I just hope that reviewers will cover the whole picture and show a fair comparison.

That isn't really true at all price levels though, the 5700XT is same price as 2070 and 2060 Super and it is faster than both. The 5700 has also got some good pricing, and so did the 590, 580 and 570. Not so much for the 5600XT and 5500XT though.
where did you exactly read that the 5700xt is faster than the 2070 super? Because you're wrong
