So if this is the GA-102 die, what would the performance have been if they had used the GA-103 as originally planned?

I think we now know why they made that change :P

Are they not going to a more mature 7+ manufacturing process? Also 5700XT is not a million miles away from 2080Ti performance and it is 251mm2 so there is a lot of room right there alone.

I think you are underestimating the performance leap rdna 2 will bring. They will have been working on that for a very long time on consoles. It will bring nice efficiency gains imo. In my mind beating 2080Ti is not even a question. The question is how close can they come to tithe 3080Ti/Titan. That will depend on how well it scales.

We will see I suppose. I am not expecting it to match or beat nvidia’s top offerings myself, but as I said 2080Ti performance will be easy to match or beat. I will eat my hat if it doesn’t and you can quote me on that!

Yes, AMD are moving to a more mature 7nm process, but, it's not going mean much to the performance, it's more for improving power efficiency. It's not a die shrink. Whereas Nvidia are moving to the more mature 7nm process and it will be a die shrink and they will also have a new architecture.

I would be also be very disappointed if AMD don't beat the 2080Ti.

Me too but if that’s the 3080Ti/3090 I’m already disappointed.
Was i to guess, i would say it’s a 3080 non Ti) that’s 30% faster than a stock 2080Ti.

That might push the 3080Ti to be 50% faster than the 2080Ti. This is more realistic than it being a 3060 or 3070, as much as people might like/hope

Well if the jump from Ti to new Ti is 50%, I’ll take that and buy one unless AMD trump Nvidia with the new cards.

Same if the perf jump and price is there I’ll be buying one. Mainly for Cyberpunk 2077, If the price is stupidity then likely I’ll pass and stick with my current Ti.

Better to sell the 2080 ti and get a 3080 non-Ti at least... raw performance should be better than the 2080Ti and it hs 4x the RT power. Sell your 2080Ti while it still has value because when Ampere is released the value of any 20X0 series card is going to drop like a stone.

Definitely, not sure my 5700XT will fair any better.

Still in full use atm. I’d rather keep it and be able to use it until launch even if it ends up dropping 50% of its value. If it drops to less than £700 in value I’ll just keep it as a spare card, has 10yrs warranty anyway.

As we well know release could be September for X cost and then decent stock could also be a few months after that so I’d rather keep it and use it to be honest.

I mean it is tempting but still plenty of games I’m playing at 4k 60hz so the Ti is still needed for the best experience and I’m not thoroughly sure I’ll even be upgrading yet.

A 2080 Ti as a "spare card", unused until emergencies... LOL no wonder prices stay high. :)
