NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Price complaints or fanboy comments are 90% of this thread.
I think I prefer the fanboy comments, at least they have some entertainment value!

So true.

I bet right now that the rtx3090 Ampere owners thread will be bigger than the current rtx2080ti owners thread

who wants to bet against me!??

Yup, if Ampere is produced in sufficient volues then the initial sales will likely be huge considering it seems like a true next gen vs what Turing was.

Turing wasn't aimed at Pascal owners. Rather it was aimed at owners of Maxwell and earlier cards.

Will you pay 2k for a 3090?

Not many people payed 2.5k for the top Turing card.

I regret selling my RTX 2080. I got it for a damn good price, but I'm incredibly foolish to expect Nvidia to lower the prices for the 3000 series.

Why, has there been an official announcement of prices that I missed?

Wow, so many pages of people moaning about Ampere prices who are nevertheless probably going to run out and buy one anyway.

True. Though not many will buy the 3080Ti/3090 if it does turn out to be only £1999 :p

..and fanboys.
Careful, I feel a disturbance in the force, Gregster is about to get his pitchfork out! :p:D

Careful...

There are a lot more owners in the 1080 Ti thread than in the 2080 Ti thread.

Exactly, those 1080ti owners are just itching to drop some moola.

A lot of them would have happily jumped on a 2080ti if it had 20 or 30% extra performance despite the price - well now is their chance at a massive upgrade.

Due the 2000 series was not too great IMO (esp at launch/or you want to test RT)

I like many have sat on the 1000 series (Titan Xp) for the 3000 or I can sit it out till 2022 as I think many things will come then, not just PC with PCI-E 5.0 (4.0 was supposed to be skipped)/DDR5 etc) but mobile phones and big jumps in Bluetooth/WIFI etc.

I pray to God some real advancement in screen tech so I can get a new monitor as this Odyssey G7 is a untested POS (LCD is in general).

Nvidia better not screw me over, I need fast well priced cards so Amd price there cards well. I am not willing to lose Freesync so Nvidia isn't an option due to them not supporting my monitor. I will still be dropping the most I have ever spent on a card and know what I get will not be the best. £700 is probably the max I will go to and shocking to think it wont get me the top card. I need more power though so no real option. I dont buy every gen though so should still see a huge gain which will help.

I dont know what they have up their sleeve yet as cards have been pretty close for so long this time, but the console hardware seems pretty strong. When I look at that, a dGPU thats a fraction better for PC drops in the territory of better than the 5700XT and 2080Ti. Its likely to be around 2080S imo so possibly £699 with a better one costing way out of my price league. That's how im reading it anyway until more info gets leaked.

Yep, two years of waiting were very loooong :D

The biggest issue is the complete lack of innovation from any competing company and this in turn allows nVidia to charge what they deem the hardcore will pay. A strong AMD is better for PC gamers, purely as competition is healthy but seeing the **** poor state of the 5700XT with drivers at launch and how slow it is, sadly this will be an expensive round for those who want the best performance.
