We need to get past one persons greed full stop. Socialism breaks down due to corruption inherent in human nature I do agree on that point or where you were going....

Personally I think there should be calorific values on all consumable product incl. alcohol so people know

Goods should come with margin% so people know behind the marketing what they are being sold

Anyone in a charge of a company or public position should have their income open to scrutiny

that seems sensible to me, we don't hide **** but at the same time we don't force people to behave in certain ways beyond those that are illegal

probelm solved - vote for me :)

Capitalism is good and most of its small issues are easily resolved with higher taxes in theory. On the other hand, socialism's issues are not so easy to resolve and that is its downfall. Both ideologies have issues but Capitalism's is easier to manage.

For a long portion of recent history Capitalism has been well managed by governments. Unfortunately it's starting to get harder because not everyone plays by the same rules anymore. I said taxes fixes the problems with Capitalism, but only if companies don't leave - slapping a 50% tax on Apple today just means they will pack up and leave to a tax haven that charges them 5%. Going back a few decades that did not happen. So now we're in a situation where rich countries are very hesitant to levy higher taxes because it will cause a flow of outward capital. And when you cannot use tax to control Capitalism, that is when the system starts to break down and the gap between the rich and poor widens

Yeah, if I drop resolution to 1080p it gives the option of 8 or 12 bit and I would prefer right in the middle! (not that I'm sure I'd ever use it, but if the display is capable I would like the option)

Edit: That's on Turing ofc.

It's obviously an oversight from when nVidia decided to support the OLED TV's for Gsync, hopefully they'll correct it soon. Might be good to flag it on their forums for a 'bug fix' if it's not been done already.

Why? Do you like eating half a bowl of rice a day while the local commissar pays your Mrs a visit in exchange for some nylon tights?

Greed is an inherent feature of mankind, Socialism is greed on steroids, but Free Market Capitalism is the only economic system devised so far where one mans greed can benefit another. As the only way for the greedy man to get rich is to create something of value to others and trade it in voluntary exchange.

It's not Capitalism we need to get past - it's government meddling in economies because "they know best".

I think you must understand what I meant by “move past” because you wrote “so far”.

anyone I don’t want to be an off topic hypocrite.

absolute rubbish. GAMING has been increasing. dedicated high end PC gaming has been in decline. Sure more people are playing Candy crush on their web browser, and asian populations are playing things like DOTA and LOL on 15 year old PC's with GTX 480's in them. and so on. But the amount of "PC gamers" (buying modern GPUs and gaming mice, keyboards etc) it absolutely in decline.

Could that be due to no decent game advances. No Far Cry or Crysis style industry blockbusters that you just had to have. The move to online only is all well and good, but a lot of us just wanted decent SP and the option to local LAN with friends withuot having to worry about net problems, bell end juveniles going potty mouth and being paired with people running cheat mods etc etc. There really hasn't been a game in the last 5 years which has tempted me to upgrade my GPU or install any of the steam/origin/whatever mandatory bloatware they want you to run these days. With games designed for consoles, why bother playing them on PC? Just get the console and play on that. It'll be cheaper.

I don't think it's an oversight. For a long time only professional level monitors had 10 but panels that's why they blocked off gaming cards from using 10bits, forcing people to move to quaddro.

The problem is that Proper HDR for the consumer, whether it be Netflix movies or PC games requires 10bit output, yet Nvidia continues to block its access. It's nuts

historically there was a lot of hidden stuff and closed government which is much harder to scrutinise, much harder to get away with now. So I'd agree with sentiment and PoV but at the same time urge caution in what you don't know never hurt you etc etc

Yes in today's climate there is a problem of not following rules/agreements etc that is clear and hinders global stability and growth in favour of short term gains to satisfy markets and shareholders... that is a problem.

Wait a minute, are you saying I can't use the 10bit and hdr1000 on my nvidia?

speaking from my own experience it's never worked. No matter what resolution I set in the control panel 10bit output is always greyed out - this happens on my 10bit Samsung qled and my 10bit LG OLED.

This is my current setting in NCP for my OLED - I think I might be doing it wrong? :o

Guys you want 10 bit for HDR.

To use 10 bit you change it from RGB to ycb422 ;)
