NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I seriously doubt PCIE 4.0 at least for a while is going to make a difference if any at the moment, even at 8x PCIE 3.0 it's only starting to make a difference compared to running at 16x 3.0. 16x 4.0 at the moment will just be overkill even on Ampere. Happy to be proven wrong though. Bet hardware unboxed will be testing the new cards for that shortly after release :D

Been running SLI on every Ti card since 780 Ti and it's been fine as long as the games have supported which many of the games I usually played did. But this time I'll be going back to a single GPU as MGPU support for the last 2yrs has been absolutely crap, and top of the range GPU's are just getting far too expensive to buy.

i cant even find a list of games that support Heterogeneous explicit mGPU. Only one i know off the top of my head is ashes of Singularity. I just want to stick a spare fury x in with my 1080ti to see what happens :D

just realised i have AOS on steam.. i know what im doing when im bored

PCIE version unlikely to make difference in anything but transferring data to local graphics ram which is where all the fast stuff happens, as any PCIE transfers are horribly slow in comparison.

Nice.

tbh they all need them these days to run at full boost without turning into leaf blowers, especially with these mentally hot summer days.

glad water blocks will be ready on day one, good to know!

How on earth are people getting ripped off? Is a mugger going to their house, taking them away at knifepoint/gunpoint, marching them to a PC retailer and making them buy the GPUs?
Of course not that's a silly thing to say and makes no sense. You are getting ripped off because you are paying something for nothing a GPU is a black box its not a Ferrari its not a renaissance work of art or a dining experience at a Michelin star restaurant. Its a tool to accelerate graphics primarily for video games a hobby mostly popular with young and middle aged generations, it serves little more purpose to a gamer than their monitor or CPU it doesn't really matter what it looks like, what logo is printed on weather its made of cheap steel or military grade titanium its still a black box and always will be.

Srs, don't talk wet. If you bought one and are unhappy then simply send it back. If not? then you are just moaning. Like I have said over and over and over now, if you don't want to buy one then don't ! if you want one and can't afford it? save for one. If you don't want to do that? then get a console.
I do want to buy one, and am excited for the new generation of GPUs but I don't like getting ripped off. I want and expect for the sake of argument £600 worth of GPU for £600 not a £300-like product marked up to £600 because of "reasons". I see no reason why this shouldn't apply at the high end too but I do recognise some creep is inevitable but that is not what we are seeing its a gulf a chasm a massive price hike for as little as they can get away with giving you.

You want your moan cake and eat it man. I don't care if it's OK or not. I really, truly don't. If that was all I had to worry about I would be worried I was dead and didn't realise or something.
I get it, you see it as moaning I can't help that. You could say you are moaning also lets all moan together or we can talk about other things until price comes up again which it will because guess what a lot of people aren't happy about being ripped off either, don't worry I'm here to educate you :)

There are many things in life many can't afford, get over it. That is called a class system and is all part of capitalism. Now I didn't say I particularly liked it but seriously this is absolutely beyond ridiculous. Wah wah wah, this company won't give me something for next to nothing.
I've not mentioned affordability, I'm guessing you're directing that at some one else who is "moaning". As for wanting something for "next to nothing" yeah that comes up a bit here and is plain ridiculous, there is a massive gap between wanting or expecting something for nothing and being ripped off. If someone is in the market for £500 worth of GPU they are clearly not expecting something for next to nothing are they, that;s a crazy thing to say.

If you have been priced out and are unhappy about it? find another hobby. There are many out there. I wouldn't even mind if you had a decent point here and you couldn't even play the games without one of these expensive GPUs. But the fact is you absolutely and totally can.
Wild assumptions, you've no idea what I or anyone else can afford you're just making stuff up now. You clearly don't agree with this anti-consumer PoV I get it, you're going to have a hard time trying to convince a growing population of disgruntled PC gamers fed up with the ripoff pricing of GPUs though. Sorry to break it to you but you're not going to shut this discussion down your points have some but ultimately little merit that you're defending a company's greedy behaviour for. Its not unique to Nvidia of course it isn't the whole oil and pharma industries are the same its about Nvidia following in their footsteps and calling it out rather than burying your head in the sand and getting walked over.

Ill be going with the 3090 then...was planning on getting a 3080ti....but seem like they aren't including it in the release.....should be a nice upgrade from my 980ti ha

So I take it the 3080ti is being replaced with the 3090 wots the odds after launch a 3090ti surfaced lol.
Make no mistake, the 3090Ti will be in the backround and will be what the 3080Ti should be. They will roll it out if AMD play a big card. Nvidia just shafting us again, changing the tier stack again.

3080Ti will be called 3090Ti
3080 will be called 3090
3070 will be called 3080

and so on. Prices will reflect and we the consumer lose again.
