NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Now I know how out of nowhere cash falls in your lap. You work for Mr Leather Jacket Man as a side job. Lol. The more you convert, the bigger your bonus :p

haha nah it wasn't quite that simple. Let's just say it was a lawsuit I had no idea even existed... I'm autistic. I was living in a damp, rotten flat. Landlady had me over a barrel. In the end I was housed by a autism trust. I was really happy. What I didn't know was that the girls at the trust (the high ups) launched a lawsuit on her ass on my behalf (I didn't even know) and won :D

Never underestimate the power of human kindness, man.

There are many things in life many can't afford, get over it. That is called a class system and is all part of capitalism. Now I didn't say I particularly liked it but seriously this is absolutely beyond ridiculous. Wah wah wah, this company won't give me something for next to nothing.

If you have been priced out and are unhappy about it? find another hobby. There are many out there. I wouldn't even mind if you had a decent point here and you couldn't even play the games without one of these expensive GPUs. But the fact is you absolutely and totally can.

Can we please get past this notion of "you're only moaning because you can't afford it" it is really starting to **** me off.

It is really not that hard to comprehend that some people - myself included, had plenty enough money waiting to buy, but simply refused to buy because they felt the worst performance increase in recent history didn't warrant the largest price increase in recent history?

OK, I accept that. How many times have you said it? more than once? then that's too many. Start another thread then or something "disgruntled not RTX owners" in the off topic forum then. I can afford many things I think are crap dude. I don't join up on forums and sit there saying how crap they are, though.

Well you had an alienware at one point seemingly sooo :p

Don't people read forums like this at least in part to avoid getting ripped off?

I don't get mad when people go on about the 3800X being a waist of money. I was impatient and it was in stock. But I'm totally fine with the community repeating the 3800X's lack value.

That's kind of why forums like this exist.

I will say it every time someone says that it's simply because "they can't afford it"

I didnt join up just to say that, I've been here since the early 2000s.

Equally its only this generation I've never bought a gpu - come to think, I did skip the 700 series as I owned 600 series, as the normal performance uplift wasn't there either, but at least the prices remained stable.

Yeah it says something if a lot of like-minded competent people start to point out the generational increases have got out of line especially the amount of money commanded.

To dismiss it as simple as "you have to pay the going rate" or "Its my money let me spend it on what I want" is not really what anyone is saying. If that's your advice then go and open up another thread on 'I dont see what all the fuss is about the flagship pricing' or something. You can all stand on the hill and defend it all you like LOL.

None of that is guaranteed if all the devs want to do is make everything glossy, giving all our games a "hall of mirrors" look. Which is all they've managed so far with this technology.

"Accurate" lighting and shadows has taken a back seat to making the side of your gun reflect the muzzle flash (etc).

I'm not goping to argue with you but all the effects I listed - and more - are there for the developer if they choose to implement them.

That was the gen when they launched the first Titan for £700 wasn't it? so no, they were far from stable. That was the initiation test and many, many failed it. And they have failed it ever since.

You want to get annoyed and complain? then at least point it in the right direction.. The people who keep paying these prices and giving Nvidia the (oh god sorry about this one :D ) the green light.

I just don't see the point in continually complaining on a forum where you know for a fact Jen ain't reading. It's not like OCUK can really do anything about it either. Everything comes with a RRP and that's that.

I won't even lie when it started to happen I was a bit bummed out. There just isn't any point in complaining about it, as it gets you nowhere these days. You even honestly review something now and it just gets deleted or you get a bribe to remove it. That is how the world works now.

I kept gaming, but I bought two XB1X (for 4k 30, it's super at that) one for my place one for my mother's and a PS4 Pro. Well, I initially bought a PS4 for TLOU remastered, but realised it would look even better on a Pro (and it did, and I am glad I did it was worth every penny, which reminds me I must order the second one !) but yeah, no point in just banging on. It won't change anything, it never does.

After buying my 2070 I was just going to put my PC out to pasture tbh. Use it til I lose it, then just move over to the new consoles coming. That is probably what I will do eventually. I took up other hobbies (well, old ones, getting my face smashed in riding BMX bikes at 47... Don't do it man !) and now I collect those too. But even those? ridiculous. Some of the old 80s bikes go for 4-5 grand. And they are awful. I dunno man, give me strength !

Just posting to get this ambiguous rumour-fest of a thread to 500+ standard pages :)

No but really, I'll buy one of the new cards, so long as I can get a QUIET fan AIB model. It's not just about speed - I want silence. I'm a little less hopeful when I hear the power supply/power pin connector rumours....
