NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Bent over, ripped off, unscrupulous tactics, RT a gimmick..... If you don't like the price, don't buy it and it is that simple.
Absolutely which is exactly what I plan to do. To be fair I have never given Nvidia a penny of my money doubt that will change for quite a while.

But if its +34% with the 3080 and its the same price as the 2080ti then that would be something to be happy about (unless you are trying to sell your 2080ti).

I wouldn't be happy with that. The xx80 tier moving up to £1200 and offering horrific price/performance vs the 1080 Ti. Nearly double the price yet not quite twice as fast 3.5 years later, with only RTX and DLSS to make up for it? No thanks.

Well it was $999 at launch and was available for less than a £1000 but I take your point.

Ok @beany_bot Pop quiz maaaaaaaaaaaaan!!

3080 10GB comes out at £700 but has 'tensor ram compression' on nV supported games.

3080 20GB comes out at £900 and you don't need all that compression ********.

Which do you choose? What...do....you....do....?

I don't choose. I don't buy either. Sadly. I can be almost certain that 90% of the games I play wouldnt be "Nvidia supported games". And I'm not paying 900 for a 3080. So in the words I'm Duncan banatyne. "I'm out,".

Has that happened with 8Gb cards which have been commonplace for 4 years now?

I am not the one complaining about it having only 10Gb and that AIB will be able to do boards with more memory. I was asking would people really pay £300 more to get the same performing board with 16gb or 20gb and future proofed IF in the current games there was no difference?

I know I would happily pocket the £300 difference and by a reference board.

Yep, don't like it vote with your wallet. It would be good if the fanboys could come up with some new stuff rather than 'leather jacket, too expensive, hot, too much power'. It's playground stuff and won't persuade anybody either way. Neither will repeating the same points ad infinitum.

Well that's it then folks. End thread.

Consumers shouldn't debate pricing for goods.

Debating doesn't change that much in terms of consumer goods pricing. Far more effective to buy or not buy depending on your view of the value given.

EDIT - All that said I will happily buy AMD if they really have a competitive product this time.

The takeaway I had from that video, these cards are going to run hot and be power hungry . Nvidia marketing in full swing to make this sound like a good thing as it means more power, we shall see......

Whats with all the pitch forks, people talking like its already been announced and all the details are fact. Truth is very little is currently known and wont be till next week

If theres 20% plus increase in performance and i can seel my 2080ti and throw maybe £300/400 extra.. max... if needed then i might bite the bullet and upgrade. Anything under 20% and i think i'll stay with what i have at the moment.
