Nvidia DX11 not important.

I hope Crytek do not go on the Nvidia bandwagon cause they will want all the best features ripped out of the game like they did with Assassins Creed and dx 10.1

You wont find meny people in the world that buy cards just to fold.
people buy graphics cards for the raw gameing power and dx features and if you dont beleave that then so be it.

you talk like nvidia will never release dx11 cards .of course they will but dx10 proved that the old times are gone. consoles dictate these days most graphical advancements and the last time i checked consoles are dx9. raw gaming power is the most important thing to me as well.

Agreed, he did not say "DX11 is not important" but he did say "DirectX 11 by itself is not going be the defining reason to buy a new GPU. It will be one of the reasons." Which in itself is fair enough and perfectly reasonable, but It does strike me as a bit feable, all the while touting Physx and 3D as far more important.

This guy is clearly in a tough position because he knows his main competitor is about to bring a very powerful, new tech product to market that his company simply can't respond to yet. As it stands, its all PR. I'll give Nvidia a serious look when they either heavily reduce their prices and/or release some new tech, as it stands - they are very much on the back foot.
finally a sane person with sth worthwhile to say.

lol i feel horrible for nvidia, such good graphics cards but now they cant make them =[

where did the nvidia guy say that? did you even read the article? i agree with what he said. its trendy these days to bash nvidia. come on people join the bandwagon throw your panties in the air and cheer for ati like little girls

The graphics cards forums here have been like this for a very long time which is why pretty much all of the reasoned thinkers and the old posters who actually knew what they were talking about upped sticks a long time ago.

Actually from talking to many of them who I still have on MSN, it's down to the nVidia card owners - not all of them but a select group. I'm not going to start naming names though.

Sometimes I think i'm mad for sticking around and hoping that eventually they just get bored and go away.

They are slightly right in one way - DX11 right now isn't massively important. It may take till next generation for it to become main stream.

However, to say that it isn't important at all is a bit silly. They are starting to look extremely petty...

lol... first they say CPU power is irrelevant to the performance and now they are taking a swipe at DX11... what next? Price being irrelevant? So people should blindly pay for their crazy blow up price cards? :)

Right now this is all nvidia has to throw at the release of the ati 5xxx series they have no product that can compete feature wise or if early benchies are true and thats a big if they cannot compete on performance either. Whenever i hear nvidia saying something is not important or not a major reason it usually means they are not in a position yet to offer that to the consumer and when they are then it becomes something important. They are right that gpgpu is a growing market but the idea that you can do one or the other and not both is a bit silly.

Its understandable they would be promoting their own propriety standards.

However DirectX 11 compute shaders/OpenCL could replace CUDA/PhysX and would not tie consumers to one brand of graphics cards.

If nvidia had a dx11 card ready now and ati wouldn't have one for 6 months then they would be shouting about how great it is.Next month we see the launch of new operating system that has dx11.Next gen Ati cards with dx11 ready to go that are faster and cheaper than current Nvidia cards.Nvidia are in deep doo doo.
