**Nvidia G-Sync owners thread**

Has anyone looked into this dynamic resolution yet? Basically for me this is working better than i could have hoped, I stuck this feature on in Titanfall 2 and it never falls below 120.00 fps period. The only thing you would ever notice would be the resolution dropping not the frame rate.

So is there anyone out there with G-Sync that actually thinks if all games had this feature there would be a focus on the ULMB backlight strobing part of G-Sync? Obviously i understand what happens when you need MLAA or what happens when games simply do not support your refresh rate but apart from those two dinosaur problems this seems like a really good breakthrough for gaming? It is almost an excuse to see ULMB as the sole feature of G-Sync modules is it not because when i turn strobing off on my monitor it is downright awful. I put links below incase someone out there has no idea this exists and wants to mess around. The experience i have had makes me think Titanfall is the smoothest game i have ever played without G-Sync.

Only just seen this group.

I've got the Acer XB321HK.

Unfortunately I do occasionally suffer the 'half screen glitch', but the BLB is nil and otherwise it's a fantastic monitor. Acer have said they will try and fix it, but I don't fancy taking the gamble.

I upgraded from 27" Korean 120hz and I don't miss the refresh - the extra real estate is fantastic.
 
Ive had the Dell S2716DG but ended up selling that since i sold my nvidia card and also it had a few annoying flaws. Now that i'm back on a 1080ti i have a Dell S2417DG in the mail which should arrive tomorrow and supposedly be free of most of the annoying issues its bigger brother had, at least in the earlier revision. Also looking forward to see 1440p crispness on 24 inches.

Of all the different brand of gsync screens ive had, acer, asus and dell, Dell is the only one i have faith in and also offers a design that doesn't scream 15 year old gamer.
 
Guys I have a bit of an issue going on with Gsync. I'm not quite sure if its the Gsync module in the monitor that's at fault or if its software related.
I use an Acer x34a monitor, and set my fps to usually -3fps the monitor refresh rate, so that Vsync doesn't kick in. It's something I read over at Blurbusters.

The thing is, using a -3fps, and even as low as a -5fps cap, the built in fps display on my monitor still shows the fps hitting the monitors refresh rate, initizating a stutter. When the stutter happens, I see some overshoot appear.

For example, in Destiny 2. I set the fps limit to -3fps. Monitor is running at 85hz. Gsync is turned on fullscreen and vsync is turned on in Nvidia control panel. Destiny 2 is in Fullscreen mode.

Playing the game, this is what frequently happens.

82fps, 82fps, 82fps, 81fps, 75fps, 85fps (stutter) 82fps, 82fps <-- notice that it hits 85fps even with a -3fps cap.

Destiny 2's in game fps counter does not display the monitor hitting 85fps. Only the built in counter on the Acer x34a.

Has anybody else experienced this? Thanks.
 
Nope. Most my games I game at 57fps and it is butter smooth.

Not that I have been gaming much as of late. Probably the next time I play anything other than a quick fighting game now and then will be once Final Fantasy 15 comes out.

Don't set a FPS limit like that.

Gsync ON in Nvidia CP
Enable Gsync for full screen mode (Nvidia CP)
Vsync ON in Nvidia CP
Vsync OFF in game.
Game set to Fullscreen
 
I thought having G-Sync meant you don't need V-Sync? Am I misunderstanding it?

EDIT: Aaaaand I'm a idiot. Just researched it and I've been thinking G-Sync was a replacement since I got my monitor... So had V-Sync off. DOH!

On nVidia when you enable G-Sync the nature of the V-Sync setting changes - when G-Sync is enabled with V-Sync off frames are rendered as fast as possible and if it goes outside the G-Sync window you get tearing, with V-Sync on it clamps frames to the max G-Sync window and you never get tearing but can get old V-Sync like behaviour if you are largely hitting the framerate cap - on a game by game basis some are more responsive with less lag if you limited framerate just below the max refresh instead with V-Sync off but you have to be careful not to limit too close as depending how the framerate limiter works you might occasionally get bursts of frames that exceed the max G-Sync window and cause momentary tearing before the counter rolls over.

It should be in "Manage 3D Settings" near the bottom as "Vertical sync" - with the options of "use the 3D application settings, off, on, fast".

G-Sync + Fast works a bit differently to FastSync when G-Sync isn't present and can help to reduce latency if you are rendering a lot above the G-Sync window while not having the torn frames that usually come from that but you might find that it induces noticeable stutter in some cases so desirability will be personal choice.
 
Ah yes found it now, which is better?

Playing PUBG @ 2560x1440, everything on ultra and my FPS sit around 130 and drop to 90 in high density areas but never below 90.
 
Depends on your approach - G-Sync on and V-Sync on is the most hands off option for getting good results, if you play stuff like CS:GO a lot you might want to use G-Sync on and V-Sync off. Other options are G-Sync on and V-Sync off and experimenting with a framerate limiter set to around 5fps below your refresh rate or trying G-Sync on and Fast on which enables FastSync but that one you definitely will need to test for individual acceptability (as above that option gives you some of the responsiveness advantages of rendering as fast as possible without the compromise of tearing but it can only work so well and might result in noticeable stutter in some cases).


(Where I found the Fast option to work really well was 75-100Hz screens coupled with a powerful GPU - almost no stutter and you got a lot of the benefits of reduced latency and just about high enough display refresh rate to be acceptable in making the Windows desktop feel smooth and games responsive enough for faster paced shooters, etc.).

I have a 980ti and a gsync monitor (acer x34) where is this fast option please?
Normally i just leave gsync switched on in nvidia control panel and turn vsync on in the game

Edit - just read above that its a vsync opyltion in ncp. Will have a look, cannot say ive seen it before
