Nvidia Gameworks at Gamescom 2015

You arguing Mantle is not Vulkan is again besides the point, the khronos Group made it very clean that Vulkan would not have been possible without Mantle.

Citation needed for that. Vulkan was in development before mantle existed.

Mantle may have been very positive in speeding up development or improving the design but it was certainly going to exist regardless of Mantle, just like DC12.

You are the type of guy who believes Apple invented the mp3 player, no doubt.

Give credit where credit is due and stop with the denial please. Khronos themselves have credited Mantle in all their press releases but you say different...

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Credited Mantle is not the same thing as Vulkan is Mantle. Khronos also credited Nvidia, does this mean that Vulkan is a nvidia invention?

I have credited AMD in contributing amntle code to the Vulkan project, but I am not going to lie and spread AMD Pr rubbish about Vulkan being Manlte.

You are probably the kind of person that thinks DX12 wouldn't exist if it wasn't of AMD.

No argument from me in any of that Googaly. :)

I agree there is no way Nvidia were ever going to support it, and AMD would not have supported it if it was Nvidia's.....

But at the end of the day AMD still made it, they still put the effort in and they did it knowing none-one else would support them in it, and then gave it away to someone who would and could use it to give us all something thats great.

This is a good thing and i don't know why some people insist on being so negative around the Mantle subject.

You know what, the Nvidia GeForce forum is full of people who its plain to see have quiet a lot of respect for AMD and Mantle. they have some pretty good and balanced conversations around the subject in there.

Whats gone wrong in here?

I don't see why you have to see it as people being eh ative about mantle. I don't see anyone being negative about Mantle, AFAIK the API is very good, which is why concepts from it will be incorporated into Vulkan.

Don't misinterpret people seeing through AMD's PR machine as being negative about the API or what they have done by donating the code to Kronos. I am very happy and grateful to AMD that they did. I've always used Opengl and will no doubt use Vulkan in future projects. I simply don't like the FuD spread around here, some thing you don't see on other forums.

Save face for what?

AMD kept banging on about how Mantle would be made open source because they're the people's champion and all that, it never was. Vulcan is not Mantle even though it is 'bootstrapped' from it (in the words of the Vulcan Group).

AMD completely lied about making Mantle open source, even when it had failed they didn't want to make it open source. Handing Mantle to the Vulcan Group to help them with their own API is not the same as making Mantle open source.

They lied, simple as.

AMD kept banging on about how Mantle would be available to other vendors but like I said when Intel requested it they were told no under the guise of it still being in beta, to which they kept it in beta perpetually.

Handing Mantle over to the Vulcan Group allowed AMD to avoid their promise of making Mantle open source.

Mantle is still very much closed source despite months of AMD proclaiming otherwise.

Humbug and thousands of other individuals/groups could be playing with Mantle now if AMD had actually kept the promise of being open and for the people.

Agree. Mantle was launched with a whole load of obvious PR guff from AMD, a great deal of which was pointed out as such and which has turned out to be exactly that. Mantle as an API has obvious benefits, but also obvious flaws. Pointing out the flaws in something doesnt automatically mean someone is ignoring the benefits. Benefits which are now also coming to market via other API's, with or without some of the same flaws.

You're so right, AMD are liars, AMD are a failure, AMD are going to start World War 3.

Yes AMD, the liars, are very bad for the industry..The sooner they go bankrupt the better for Nvidia loyals. Their desire to bend over and take a Titan is overwhelming... :p

AMD going bankrupt wouldn't be good for any of us and you are just coming across as a massive AMD fanboy with this kind of vitriolic posting!

Whilst GameWorks hasn't been without its issues, I for one applaud Nvidia for driving forward with these sweet looking effects. Sure it comes at a performance hit but that is to be expected. After playing some of the bigger titles like AC:U and TW3, I am massively impressed with how these games looked and played.

Keep it up Nvidia :)

+1

Not one person has said that or I believe wants that(in the sense you say, nvidia and AMD all tell porkies in marketing at some point, that is business). You are just coming across as a child.

I'm pretty sure he is one as most of his posts are anti NVIDIA nonsense. Grown men hopefully don't - a/ talk like that and b/ care half as much ;)

It is childish but it is what the usual suspects want to hear. Also Humbug started it..:p
