**NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 680 NOW IN STOCK & AVAILABLE!!**

I chucked in some OT at work to pay for mine so all good. It wont hurt any to wait a bit either and prices will probably drop, so that would be a + also.

I am a 41 year old going on 14 :D

That's true, hopefully the prices might drop a bit in two weeks when I order it.

Still would have liked it next week though haha. :D

Enjoy the card mate, I'll be gaming like crazy when I get mine. No more sitting around with my GTX 470 at 2560x1440 and medium settings.

iv had 2 msi cards fail on me, my dad had 3 fail and a mate had 1 fail too..

worth avoiding tbh, their motherboards are still top notch though.

I'm going off MSI more and more as the days pass.

A company who test things so well that a £499 "ultra card" could only do 1190mhz (7970 Lightning) making all that cooling and add ons a waste of time and money.

They don't seem to put in the QC they used to, that's for sure.

Thanks Mate and hope you enjoy yours when you get it.

Problem with MSI is that they are one of the OEM's who speedbin parts. That means reference card average overclocks are poor compared to other manufacturers, and their cherry picked "Lightening" brands. The only ultra crap overclocker I ever owned was an MSI GTX570 ref card.

ASUS and EVGA ref's have been good for me, which is why I stick to them most of them. There is a certain lock of the drawer, but chances are worse if you start off with a poor bin.

Thing is, if they do speedbin then how come they ended up with a metric ton of 6970 Lightnings that couldn't even sit stable @ 950mhz on stock volts?

Does make you wonder if they even bother to bin at all any more.

I mean the 480 Lightning? that thing was special. It was a complete animal. But the ones since have just been a bit wet fart to me.

My MSI GTX 460s managed 925 Mhz, and my 560 tis manage 1000 Mhz, plus 4800 on the ram which is very rare for them.

I checked the numbers on the vram chips, and they actually are higher binned than the ones on reference / other brand GTX 560 tis (4400 Mhz manufacturer spec rather than 4200 Mhz).

The are consistently ahead of every other manufacturer for the lowest temperatures and noise on their custom cooled cards. I've had 3 samsung hard drives that failed, that didnt make me stop buying samsung hard drives because they were still top quality, although their HD division is now sold to seagate.

6970s in general couldnt overclock as well as 5870s did, 950 Mhz with a voltage increase was good for them. Expecting 950 Mhz on stock voltage for a 6970 is ridiculous.

So what you are saying is that MSI are ridiculous?

Because the Lightning cards were clocked at 950mhz with stock volts. They then went on to overclock to nearly 1100mhz in some cases with voltage increases.

However, I think you've missed what I was getting at.

IE - if MSI speed bin chips BEFORE they make cards then why were there hundreds of the "reboxed" Lightning cards fully made and for sale on this website here that could not clock to that and remain stable?

Or, was it as I suspect it to be. IE - make the cards first, then test them.

Well that was a ridiculous card that MSI released :D

But didnt they have a whole batch of those or something with faulty bioses? Thet voltage was meant to have been higher, but they had an incorrect bios which was causing the problems.

Actually, it was an AMD card too, no problems with MSI's custome Nvidia cards, those are among the best green team cards you can get :)

Or were those the non lightning GPUs that simply had lightning PCBs, coolers and bioses?

I.E. unbinned cards with lightning everything being sold at the same price as a normal 6970. I clearly remember those.

i had a msi twin frozr 3 6950 and it always got to 90c in games and was ridiculously loud (@ stock) and even after a replacement it was exactly the same.

now this sapphire 6950 i have now, 55c max (overclocked) and by far the quietest gpu iv owned.

i wouldnt call msi graphics cards ahead of every other manufacturer at all.

Placed my order on the phone at 1.30 and got told my EVGA Card was on the way for tomorrow....

Then I got a email at 4pm saying they were out of stock....

Not impressed. Called in and changed it to the MSI model -_-
