If the 980 TI stays below 700 euros, then I may consider getting 2 to SLI them with my RoG Swift. But at this point I'm legitimately concerned with longevity of NVIDIA cards considering the latest fiasco surrounding the 780 TI. Last thing I want is to dish out 1400 euros only for driver support to die out after a year when Pascal launches. Hell, it could be 6 months from now for all we know, that would **** me off tbh. AMD never pulls that kind of crap, but I can't switch sides anymore having purchased the RoG Swift, lol.

jeeze, it's been some time since i've seen such trash.

Really having to talk long and hard with myself . Bought 2 980s in February , really want to get rid and jump up to two ti's when they drop , but I know pascal isn't really all that far away and dont think I could explain 4 sets of GPUs in less than 2 years to even myself . Will just have to miss this round of cards :'( ... Gonna have to wait till pascal to get competitive again in the benches

My thoughts? Its probably going to be disgustingly overpriced for a gimped/crippled gpu.
The Titan X has around 10 fps more then the 980 at 4K. And its much less when you oc the 980.

If the 980 TI doesn't have segmented memory like the 970, but full 6GB VRAM, and its cheap enough being only slightly more expensive then 980, then I'l consider it for sure.

Pascal will probably land around May next year considering the Titan X only came out 2 months ago and the 980 Ti is launching this month.

Maybe there are other reasons than just "left as long as nVidia can get away with" to why more powerful cards are not available sooner?

I'm sure there's plenty of possibilities but I was exampling one particular situation which was the original Titan which was a cut down GK110 as was the 780 (even more so). Maybe in the beginning success rates where low but over time they clearly got a fair supply of full chips made which they sat on until AMD's Hawaii response.

So yeah still a year away but considering maxwells been out 8-9 Months , I might be able to wait and go the pascal titan SLI route next time with the money I could potentially save not buying more maxwell . It's a shame :( hopefully I can get these 980s to last a year whilst keeping mostly maxed settings / 60fps....

I'll just suicide run the 980s to try keep up hehe

i have to rma my 980 this week , tempted to wait for ti however ive noticed rumours that the memory will be gimped again like 970 .... not sure how true this is. However if this is true i certainly will not buying the ti after being stung in the 970 fiasco.

After seeing those CUDA cores/TMU/projected ROPs etc I'm further convinced that the 780Ti was an intentional "blunder" by Nvidia to sucker people into buying future Ti ranges. :p

I mean the 780Ti matched up against the Titan Black, and it's looking like the 980Ti is going to be sub-Titan X performance? Not following the trend, booooooooo.

Also, 700 EUR estimated release price? I think I'm getting another 780Ti for SLI goodness. :)

I'm still going to predict around £650 like I did months ago.

Bit more info on the clock speeds, shaders etc, but the ROP count is being kept under wraps - GPUz shot on guru3d...
