The Titan Xs are always going to be slightly faster and have a huge frame buffer, but at a price. The 980Ti should be a clever option coming out a bit more expensive than 970 SLI for people on 1440.

Damn, I knew it was ambitious of me to hope for around $599. If I bring one back from the US I will get stung with tax as its above £390. Does anyone know a way around this :D

My GFs mother lives there, could she buy it as a gift and then we somehow avoid being stung?

hmm i normally get bike parts sent from us , some of them up to 1k in price normally the guy that sends me the parts downmarks the prices of items within box being sent so custom charge stays lows :)

No backplate?

Probably doesn't need one like Nvidia said the titan x didn't need one...

I don't see what the fuss is about with backplates. Certainly wouldn't want to pay more for one fitted.
They're useful for big and heavy cards that are likely to bend, other than that, it's purely aesthetics. Do you really care that much about the looks of the card? Those who do for cool projects usually just create there own anyway, or watercool their cards.

Some say it helps cooling, can't see that it would help all that much if implemented that way. There's been cases where they have insulated the back of the card, making it worse.

I'm one of those people that care :(
