£600 I can stomach but it has to beat the new AMD card.

£650+ is stupid money when I can get a TX for £800.
Is the Titan X really worth £150 - £200 more outside of 4K?
Really? It's last of line. This is the last Maxwell card we'll see. It's pretty much 18 month old technology.
If the AMD card comes out with only 4Gb then even though it's older tech I'd be all over the 980Ti like a rash.
Why is that relevant? I want the "best" card I can get at the time of upgrading. Old/new irrelevant.
Then the best card you can get will either be the titan-x or the 390x.
What I was trying to say is that if the 390x comes out with only 4Gb then I wouldn't even consider it. If the 980ti prices are within £150 of the titan then I'd look at getting an OCUK titan if funds allowed.
AMD must have something up their sleeve if it is 4GB. They aren't going to gimp themselves right from the start if they thought 4GB HBM isn't enough.
This, I might just jump in and buy a TX
I got mine to go ultra wide.
If I'd stayed at 1440 I'd just have stuck with my standard 980.
GTX 980 Ti MSRP $649

Between £500 and £550 for cheapest reference and £600+ for overclocked versions.
I think prospective Titan X buyers were/are just annoyed that the 980 had one and the X didn't.I don't see what the fuss is about with backplates. Certainly wouldn't want to pay more for one fitted.
They're useful for big and heavy cards that are likely to bend, other than that, it's purely aesthetics. Do you really care that much about the looks of the card? Those who do for cool projects usually just create there own anyway, or watercool their cards.
Some say it helps cooling, can't see that it would help all that much if implemented that way. There's been cases where they have insulated the back of the card, making it worse.
Not sure if it's already been posted:

EDIT: if that price is correct then that works out to be roughly £740!
