I think if the launch is $800, the price will drop like a stone in two weeks when and release competitive cards but they know they can make $800 sales until that point, I think it will be released at $650 though as $800 seems very high and they will make far more sales at $650.

I wonder how many are going to jump on the 980ti before they see the specs/review of AMD latest and greatest ?
I probably may. I'm sick and tired of waiting for AMD. Seems like all AMD has for sale is these days is more waiting games.
I truly hope it won't be long before AMD launches their line-up. But most likely we will wait another few months wich I just cba anymore.

More cuda cores also The 980ti going to be £550?

That two hundred deficit in cuda cores can easily be overcome with a small OC. Lets face it the AIB cards with factory OCs will have TX performance out of the box. I never liked Zotac that much but their AMP Extreme 980Ti is specced as having a 1355Mhz boost clock

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme (ZT-90505-10P) Specifications:

2816 CUDA cores
6GB GDDR5 memory
384-bit memory bus
Base Clock: 1253 MHz
Boost Clock: 1355 MHz
Memory clock: 7210 MHz
Custom PCB, 2x-8pin PEG

I still remain that the Titan will still obviously be the fastest single GPU but for the many that are unable to stretch to £800+ for a single GPU or £1600 for SLI the 980Ti brings that level of performance to them. It will still have the extra 6GB vram but that is less important to those not using SLI or at 1440p.

Wonder how long until MSI announce their edition as its missing from the launch. MSI are the only company I trust to make a virtually silent HSF for their Nvidia GPU's ;)

Gigabyte are one of the worse their Windforce series is actually louder than stock once its hits the thermal limit the noise is ridiculous for a triple fan design should be silent not a vacuum cleaner roar

My 970 Gigabyte Winfdorce was great, kept the card cool and quiet. Thing is because the 970 sips power it got no where near any thermal limit. On more powerful cards like the 980Ti/TX slapping a Windforce on it could very well ramp up the noise more.

If its £550 im taking 2, but im betting it will be more like £699

I'd be very surprised if it was, would be the first time Nvidia have released such a card at that price point.

Last comparable launch was the 780, it started around £550

Previous comparable launch before that was the 480 which was around £475 but it had stiff competition from the 5870.

If the 390X is nowhere to be seen I'm very much expecting the £550-£600 same as the 780

As much as I would like to get one at launch, I am going to be strong and resist the urge untill AMD reveals its new card, at least to see if it forces nvidia to alter it's pricing.

Sucks to have just bought a Titan X though, regardless of whether it has 12GB of ram or not.

Sort of, at the time the 980Ti launch date was rumored at September, if I had know it was early June I would have waited.

However that would also have meant playing this years 2 most important games, GTA 5 and Witcher 3, on a 780 driving 4k.

Compared to the 980 Ti, if priced at ~£550, the Titan X is basically £300 more. The real worth is probably about £100 more given the extra shaders, rops and vram so it's basically £200 down the chute.

980ti will be priced high on launch to compare better with the Titan X. With a more realistic price change on the run up to Christmas. If your looking for more performance at a good price Christmas time is always the best option.

So what do we reckon - 980Ti at £550 - 980 at £375 and 970 at £250?

I must say i am surprised Nvidia are releasing it at the $649 mark. This must mean AMD's new cards are imminent and fairly competitive.

Buyers remorse is common when a company release a lot of similiar performance cards at different pricepoint in succession.
649 still are not good but lot better than Tx tho for the same performance delta.

Just to be clear, i have not bought a Titan X, i was just saying it sucks for those that have.

For those that must have the indisputable best GPU, which a lot of Titan X owners obviously mostly are, things won't change much. The Titan X is still the top of the mountain and at a price the owners were willing to pay.

I feel they would have more reason to be butthurt if the 980Ti actually had more Cuda cores and a faster stock/boost clock, like the 780Ti done to the original Titan. But nope Titan X is the full iteration of GM200.
