Sucks to have just bought a Titan X though, regardless of whether it has 12GB of ram or not.

I don't think so, people bought for their own reasons. Probably had mine for a month now and completely happy. I bought at a time that suited me - I don't want to wait, wait and wait for the next thing. Also, if things are different this time regarding the Ti coming out when the TX has only been out for a few months, it's a sign technology is moving forward again so when I next upgrade in a year or so I can make a bigger jump hopefully. Titan to 780 Ti after a year would not have been seen a great jump. I'll be surprised if 980ti has as much of an increase over the TX (if any) that the 780Ti had over the Titan.

I have to say i have Zero regrets in buying my Titan X, its been the single most satisfying gpu I've ever bought since my sli voodoo 2's with my crossfire 290x's being the most disappointing , well aside from the Ati rage fury maxx.... now that was a **** card.

All i wanted was a card that ate 100% of the games i play and it does exactly that.

It's a given that it won't. The reference 980Ti at stock in all reviews will undoubtedly be slower in every benchmark. With OC results and factory OCd cards things will obviously change. Don't forget the Titan X can be OCd too ;). For those that looked at those stock Titan X reviews and oohed and ahhhed but baulked at the price, this card may bring that performance in the realms of reality though.

I probably may. I'm sick and tired of waiting for AMD. Seems like all AMD has for sale is these days is more waiting games.
I truly hope it won't be long before AMD launches their line-up. But most likely we will wait another few months wich I just cba anymore.

I feel the same. I've been waiting since before Xmas to upgrade because the "new cards are coming" and even now there's no real idea about whats coming, what thew price might be or even if they're any good.

I have never owned an Nvidia card before and I'm starting to think now might be the time.

All depends on the price I guess..

£599 I think and OC/Custom Cooler versions will be £629-649.

Pure speculation on my part

Just will need to decide what's the best for my rig and SLI down the line :D

After a couple of months and after AMD have launched their cards then maybe I can see £599. The issue I see is that some 980s cost that much so I'm just finding it hard to see it.

If I'm wrong I'll be quite happy and may just buy a pair. Then again with a proper Kepler driver inbound I probably won't have to.

Do you not feel/see the microstutter some people report with SLI and GSYNC Andy? I must admit I'd be tempted to go with 2 reference 980ti's in SLI if it worked as well with GSYNC as it did single card on the TX.

Just to be clear, i have not bought a Titan X, i was just saying it sucks for those that have.

I think its sucks that pc gamers now have to pay £900 for a top end gpu when previously it was around the £450 mark. Instead of getting two gpus for their money they are only getting one. Sad times indeed. :(

Quite happy here if the 980Ti releases at £400 or under (it won't of course) and was as fast as my Titan X. I do hope the Ti slots into the 980 price bracket and the 980/70 drop in price. NVidia could clean up if they did that and steal loads more AMD customers. If the rumours of the 390X are indeed true and it does only have 4GB, I can see this putting a lot of people off and they will go NVidia.

Ahem but seriously, AMD need to get at least a graph out tomorrow showing the top end 390 trading blows with the Titan X otherwise many people will be tired of waiting and just get a 980Ti

AMDs already put their customers off with their support, so having 4GB won't make a difference, as a lot of people have gone Nvidia already, or will do when this 'Fury' (or whatever its going to be called) comes out, as they may get their Nvidia cards cheaper.

Sad times, everyone just waiting for one brand to release, so they can all flock to the other and buy their cards for cheaper, still, they've only got themselves to blame.

I'd be over the moon at that price and would grab two.

Though I think they will be priced high enough I would not even be tempted by one.

Which is why I am still eying up the kfa2 Gtx 980 with games...

It's getting very difficult convincing myself to stay red, even if it means the hassle of taking everything apart and selling again.

My 970 Gigabyte Winfdorce was great, kept the card cool and quiet. Thing is because the 970 sips power it got no where near any thermal limit. On more powerful cards like the 980Ti/TX slapping a Windforce on it could very well ramp up the noise more.
That Windforce triple fan design is utter rubbish (fan blades are too small) as soon as it goes above 60-65% RPM its way louder than stock  I RMAd 2 x GTX780 Ti with it on last year wasted £40 on P&P :(

Would never even take another chance on Gigabyte because of that they need to add a disclaimer its great until xyz % RPM is reached & or you need a large case with plenty of case fans  Their feeble design also dumps the hot air into your case making ambient increase a lot in the hotter weather!
