**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

The 980ti is deff a powerful but expensive card that cant really show its strength using a reference cooler, it begs for water.. And i think i might grant it its wishes at some point in the future..

Ofc it does, but let's face it, a lot of upgrades are done because of that itch to spend money and get new shiny things, rather than actual need. I bet most people upgrading only play once in a blue moon, and even then not really the games that push their systems to the edge.

That's pretty much me. I hate not being able to push my games to ultra from the get go. Hate peeling back settings here and there to achieve 60fps. And a few games lately have made it pretty common on my 780. I game at 1080p on my 50" plasma 80% of the time. So you're probably thinking me getting a 980ti is overkill... While I agree it is. The money saved by getting games cheap and on sales (damn steam sales) is what's allowed me to save to get the best of the best. Unlike console where it's now common to see games pushing past £50 a pop!

Also, I keep telling my self that I'll upgrade to a tasty 4:4:4 ratio 4k TV and monitor later this year where it will be justified...

Definitely on the market for a couple of these. My 780 GTX SLI is feeling the strain running maxed out in some new titles @ 1440p. I don't think AMD will be able to compete unfortunately.

If we had an ETA on the MSI model I'd buy it right now.

Hey Kaapstad, not a plumber either, but thank you :D.

While I wait for news on waterblocks for the 980Ti's, has it been mentioned when OCUK get more 980Ti's in stock?

The 980Ti's use the same PCB as Titan X's don't they? the Water blocks for the titan X should fit the Ti?

Don't take my word for it though, i could be wrong :D

Have you tested since the new drivers were released yesterday?

Yes thank you, the drivers are decent but only really helped performance in a couple of the latest game like The Witcher 3.

Sorry, I should have stated the cards are struggling with 144hz@1440p, not 60hz :)

So true. The draw to something new and shiny is most definitely the main reason.:D

I can't help but feel I've made a mistake by getting the Base EVGA reference design... I want to go into watercooling in a few months but will the base evga be able to clock well with only a 6 pin and an 8 pin? Hmmm

Even the EVGA AIO has 6 pin and 8 pin. The MSI Gaming has dual 8 pin though and I think that'll be a dark horse for decent quiet cooling and nice OCs.

The EVGA AIO doesn't change anything in terms of power delivery it's using the reference board and you only change the shroud and hook up the waterpump block.

A base EVGA card is usually the same card as a SC/SSC/FTW/Hydrocopper EVGA card just with a different BIOS flashed to it.
