I've calmed down a lot now, glad I got over the upgrade fever unscathed, going to see what AMD brings and also wait until the Hybrids are actually in stock, maybe the prices may change a little by then depending on AMD.

Going SLI would be the only reason stopping me from going with an AIO cooler - unless I could go rad-fan-rad-fan with 2 rads sandwitched between 2 or 3 fans Just looks messey with 2 single 120mm radiators. They should do an "SLI upgrade" kit with a 240mm rad plumbed into 2x cards.
They could stick on some QDC fittings, and additional holes in the cooler. Have it cost a little bit more and call it the SLI edition.
Then when you add a second card you QDC some tubes, add some others and have a nice little dual pump dual rad loop.
Problems would be tube lengths, and case support of dual rads isn't as good.
But, you could also just do it properly
Not sure what case you have but this is Titan X SLI retrofitted using EVGA 980 AIO coolers.
Case is a Corsair 750d
One exhausts out the rear and the other out of the base. Neither gets above 48°C on stock clocks and even with more voltage and 1400 core they only get to about 50°C
Yeah see that just looks messy hell IMO. Bet it performs brilliantly though.
I have an Evolv mATX with a H110i GT in the roof, so would need one 120mm at the rear and another at the front, replacing the 200mm fan in the front for 2 120mm fans.
If both rads could fit in the front (end tank space?) they would be pretty much hidden by the coverplate though. Hmm...
It's not certain I'll go SLI but pretty likely, as I intent to go 4k gsync IPS in the next 6 months.
Just sold my Titan X, losing £100 overall.
The Hybrid is seriously compelling but I've opted for 2x ACXs instead for a couple of reasons.
1. The colour scheme on the hybrid is hideous.
2. AIO's use around 50 watts more per card and I think I'd be cutting it too close with a 850W PSU.
3. I have no intentions of overclocking since I only play at 60Hz 3440x1440 where stock SLI 980 Tis will be more than sufficient for pretty much any game.
I have a real soft spot for the EVGA ACX 2.0 models, they really are sleek, elegant and efficient. Really don't like the look of reference coolers. Hopefully temps will be okay in my H440 case so long as I stick to conservative clocks and VSync/Frame limiter. Worst comes to worst I'll just open the front panel when I game.
Thoughts?

Your plasma will be retaining almost the full 1080p in motion, more than a 1440p LCD at the same refresh.I game at 1080p on my 50" plasma 80% of the time. So you're probably thinking me getting a 980ti is overkill...
I think I'm the only person who must not mind the colour of the Hybrid!

I'm with you.
It could be coated in **** for all I care. When I game I look at my monitor.
See, I wouldn't run Titan X's that close in SLI and the 980Ti is the same card (for all intents and purposes)
I ran them like this for a while:
And the top card was throttling at 83°C at the stock fan profile. That's why I went for AIO cooling.
No reason why you can't. I've got 2xGTX Titans just like this in my Evolv, top is 80c and the bottom is 10c lower. I game with headphones and have a 1:1 fan profile, no complaints at all!
I don't game with headphones, I use my home cinema for 5.1 audio but with the stock cooler you could hear it.
1:1 would be so loud!
