So (just following this through, not believing it yet) this means 780 would get a big price drop... hard to believe with it being Nvidia.
Did the GTX580 see price drops to GTX670 level? (genuine question, I can't remember).
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. 580 was full DP Compute and intended high end, the GF104 680 was crippled DP Compute and originally intended for mid range before GF100 bad yields.
Not sure what the 580 to 670 comparison is for as it ended up 580 > 680 so would be 570 > 670.
Of course there will be a sizable price drop on 780's when the 880's are released. That's how it works. There will be a month or two where all the retailers will be selling off excess stock e.t.c. This is how I buy graphics cards! GTX 480 for £190. 2x 670's for £160 a piece plus loads of games
.
I could be tempted by 780 sli this time around if they drop to near £200-£250 each.
[Editorial] The GTX 880 could possibly have 384 TMUs and a 512 Bit Bus. But wait, it says 256 Bit on the heading? Well yes it does, and in all probability it will feature a 256 Bit bus, meaning the 512 Bit thing is just a rumor. Confused? I guess I better start from the beginning then.

This reminds me of PCI-E slots, just because they are x16 does not mean they are any good.
No one in their right mind is going to want to use PCI-E 1.0 x16 but they will be quite happy to use PCI-E 3.0 x8.
So far we have only got tiny bits of the puzzle, lets wait until we have the full picture before we make our minds up.
Changing the subject, not long now... Come on England !!!!!!!!!!!
Spot on. Football time. England to lose lol.![]()
I'm not that sure on where I stand with the 880 with regards to the rumoured specs.
I'm wanting to upgrade the 680 as it is just at the point of starting to struggle with some games. I was hoping that the 880 launching toward the end of the year would provide a good upgrade and run GTA V smoothly. But the rumoured 256bit bus has me concerned that the card won't perform well if I upgrade to a 1440p or even 4K monitor later down the line.
Alright, when I was writing my previous editorial, I actually found something else too, namely the GM200 Core, in the shipping data. But since that warranted a post of its own, I refrained from mentioning it there. So heres the thing, The GM200 Core, or the ultra-high-end Maxwell Core (almost certainly 20nm), has been spotted in transit.
