*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

The competitor I am advertising for with my PSU never took pre-orders. They went with "When we get stock in the first to notice gets" school of thought. I think Ebuy3r did the same.
tbh though we all knew what we where getting into (except early orders). We all knew there would be a wait.

We knew there would be a wait, but to wait 8 weeks from launch day order, and still be over 400 in the queue with no sign of increased stock and potentially not even getting the card before a refresh ti is released, is surely not what anyone would have reasonably expected?

As far as I'm concerned the only people to be annoyed with are Nvidia. They clearly released the new chips too early to get ahead of AMD and coupled with the covid situation plus annual holidays in China it just combined to create a perfect storm that made card production slow to get off the ground running and get global orders met. Yeah maybe OCr's communication could be a bit better but it wouldn't make the slightest difference to how quickly they get card shipments from their suppliers and thats really he only thing that matters as far as me getting my order is concerned.

What worries me at the moment is whats going to happen after the new year and the UK is out of the EU and what effect thats going to have on air freight imports from the far East. It may be that it doesn't effect it much but then again it could mean all imports are tied up for ages in hugely congested customs facilities.

Almost all companies did this. The other major computer seller took pre-orders which were supposed to span a 6 week period and then closed them off, although some cards have outrun that. I only know of one other UK company that is still taking pre-orders today and they're significantly smaller (when I contacted them, their queues for TUF and Strix OC's were both in the 20's/30's and expected to clear them by the end of November)

I'm pretty much giving up my search for a 3080 at this point. Was going to go with the Aorus Master for £850 but now I'm going to try my luck for the RX 6900XT because it's comparable with the 3090, £500 cheaper, with 16GB of VRAM that will help a lot with my 3D rendering.

Although chances are I'm not going to get my hands on anything for months after if it ends up like the R9 5950x

I'm not sure what you use for rendering, but most professional software supports cuda cores and they work much better on nvidia gpu's. If I was just a gamer I'd be all over the 6900xt, but that lack of support, and the slow memory means it ain't going to match even a 3080 in most pro graphics software...2D or 3D.

Gaming is a part of it as I love my games and I know that Maya's GPU rendering only works for Nvidia currently, however that may change in the future, I don't really see myself ever getting my hands on a 3080 at this point, the 3090 is far too expensive, whereas the rx 6900XT has 16GB of Vram instead of 10GB with the 3080, although it may not be as fast more should help with my 3D modelling and rendering. I can live without the GPU rendering if I get my hands on an R9 5950X, may as well just go all red and get that Smart access memory.

I'm mostly at the point where I don't want to give Nvidia money now because of how badly they have handled this launch.

I am also a customer of the MSI 3080 Trio and very interested to hear further information about the 10% off part. Are you still a customer with a pre-order currently in the wait list?

Yes I phoned them up, as it was supposed to be delivered Friday. Guy said they're in stock this weekend and shipping next week, I told him I cancelled my pre order elsewhere as you said you had stock.

Then said, I'm going to give you %10 off for your inconvenience

We get masses of stuff direct from the Far East now by Aircraft and Ship, so should not be much of an issue post leaving EU. Stuff from EU though thats another issue as they are still trying to force their own agenda.

The Common Market (as was) worked fine until poor cousins joined and the Beaurocrats raised their ugly heads and started meddling.

"Many customer's"

Dude you're the first I've seen that's come like this

You realise my picture is of 3 different cards, 3 different customers all in 1 sitting, Isay many because I posted on reddit, and I have more people saying there's is broke, and some posting pictures too, whether yours comes broke or not, fact is, it's weak ass ****, and will probably break even if you use a can of air to blow out dust from you computer.

As for those telling me to contact MSI, I have:

usual stream of negative crap, all the people moaning! ffs cancel and go elsewhere! really sick of hearing your spoilt child rhetoric! theres only so much of this normal people can take, i suggest some of you get yourselves a new hobby and get a fresh perspective on life.

I was thinking the same thing. Imagine the rage that will be coming at future tech/gpu/cpu releases, it will only get worse.

It's also quite interesting how many people are saying they have placed multiple orders at multiple sites. If you really really want something then fine, but that kind of fomo behaviour is basically the same as panic buying, as it creates false demand.

All that said, of course people are annoyed and I'm not making fun of that, I know what it feels like.
It's just that it's devaluing the forums as they are just full of arguing about paper launches etc.
I just hope everyone learns something from the experience and perhaps tones it down a bit as they are only hurting themselves.

I agree

People getting all bent out of shape about it and moaning in here aint gonna help anything

Were all in the same boat

Fundamentally there are 2 choices. Stick it out or cancel

There is no point crying over spilt milk

They have done nothing with a negative impact, nothing that any other company wouldnt do,if you and others couldnt have forseen that you"d be waiting for a while when the cards were at the performance level and price that they were, well you cant be helped, and the positive thing is the ones that do wait are getting a card at the original price so whats wrong, with just waiting untill your turn comes up, your not going to die/become seroiusly ill if your card doesnt come right now, im really ill and ive thought occasionly that im not going to get my gfx before i pop my clogs but it doesnt get your delivery any closer, yes ocuk may have made a few mistakes but do we all need to keep hearing about it every five mins, and i think mistakes are made all day and every day, its called learning, cheers.
Yep. My mistake for believing ocuk that my eagle would arrive close to the 23rd sept. Guess why i thought that? Well maybe it was something to do with ocuk stating that they would have stock on the 23rd Sept lol. MY fault for trusting them and believing their promises. Ok so couple of weeks to allow for delays. They're "In the best position to secure stock before anyone else" so i've nothing to worry about because theyre nvidias partner. Its now 2 months nearly since i originally ordered and i'd still be waiting if i had stayed. In the time since i cancelled i've had TWO 3080s from 2 different places and currently have a 3090. Your mistake is still being in a queue whilst i spend my time enjoying my gpu. The question is will you learn or will you continue to wait with everything crossed hoping with the next queue email you might have moved up a place :)

Every 5 minutes isn't anywhere near close enough imho. If you want to wait then wait. Don't complain because others are concerned/frustrated at the contempt they've been shown and the lack of info they've received. Oh and maybe the fact they don't have their gpu they paid for nearly 2 months back has something to do with it! ocuk are lying to potential new customers and thats wrong however much of a positive spin you put on it.

New buyers have no idea about wait times unless they stumble accross here first. Do you visit the ocuk forum before every purchase to check for issues? I didn't and i still don't. If an item says in-stock or has and arrival date then i trust that. It seems ocuk lies to buyers on both counts with some even stating that they've bought something thats in-stock only to find out thats wrong. Its not isolated incidents and imho only a fool would stand by them whilst they hold onto his/her money whilst offering no usefull info. Just my opinion. You are of course, welcome to yours :)

It was a Gigabyte Gaming OC, I would like to straighten the pins myself but not really sure the best way to go about it, any advice would be very much appreciated

A small flat headed screwdriver is normally the best way to go. just gently lever them until theyre pretty much central. I would actually think it probably came from gigabyte like that given the issues they've been having with power connectors. Once the pins are close to center gently wiggle the power plug into it and it should go on. Give it a proper test and if you have no issues then great. If you see anything untoward then RMA it :)

The problem is. if you use your card for professional work you want something thats stable and wont let you down. nvidia have that and the support of many applications. amd doesn't have that just yet. I got a 3080 and for my work i was maxing it out so kinda justified the cost of the 3090 for me. In gaming its a decent improvement, not imo worth the extra if games is your only use but an improvement still and still better value than some of the prices being charged for the 3080 some places. The extra memory is a dream :)

I chose to cancel but it does still bother me the way customers are being treated. If you try complaining on the phone they just hang up on you. I'm fairly sure ocuk would prefer complaining and moaning to be in this thread than twitter or reddit or trustpilot lol. For most its not the lack of supply its the way ocuk have behaved. I mean come on. they have a long pre-order queue of none-oc zotacs yet when they had free zotac oc stock they didn't even consider the non-oc queue. That speaks volumes and literally proves they have no interest in their customers once they have the money. They could sell the zotac for well above msrp or other retailers and make more money so thats what they did. Now they have a customer with a damaged product and they are being extremely unhelpful. People need to stop drinking the coolade and make some properly informed choices imho.
