*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I'm 38th, we'll probably benefit from the same batch.....good luck for this coming week sir!

As it happens I have been working away for the past 7 or so weeks, so I have not been too bothered about the wait, plus I have a cheap 2080 in the machine, so it is not killing me waiting.......the thing that was killing me though, was my original order was for a Zotac Trinity, I had serious buyers regret once I had read the reviews, thankfully OcUK let me swap my purchase over and not lose my position.

If I had stuck with the Zotac I would have been around queue position 300 , but with the Tuf OC the first email showed me at position 49, so it looks to of been a good choice to switch my original order.

And what is the most mudane reason you've heard?

As I just said in that earlier post - Sales of the 2000 series cards unexpectedly shot up late in the day over lockdown and Nvidea had to keep production of those chips high over the Summer and it over ran into the production of 3080 chips. Thus less production bandwidth.

My reasoning for getting on the tail end of a 2000+ queue for a Gigabyte Eagle instead of trying to get lucky and randomly picking up a card somewhere is that since Overclockers have sold 2000+ cards before even getting them its my hunch they'll be prioritised by suppliers over a high street store when cards become available. At least OC'ers can say to their suppliers we need X amount of cards because they're all already paid for.

Also, I'm more of an optimist than some people here. I think once manufacturing picks up it'll ramp up quickly. I don't believe in any of conspiracy theories going about. The most mundane reason I've heard for their being a logistical shortage of cards is probably the right one. Sales of the 2000 series cards shot up over lockdown and Nvidea had to keep production of those chips high over the Summer and it over ran into the production of 3080 chips. Thus less production bandwidth.
I'm happy to take that punt now. Suppose I don't have much choice but i have a feeling once stock becomes more readily available there will be plenty of vendors to choose from who don't adopt a preorder system. I've used overclockers for my last 3 GPU upgrades but their ability to source stock in this scarce market has prompted me to look elsewhere this time.

Turing - TSMC 12 nm (FinFET)
Ampere - Samsung 8nm for consumer & 7nm TSMC for pro.

So irrelevant. As far as I know NV doesn't have any problems with delivering Ampere based on TSMC 7nm which has average yields of 80% (fun fact, TSMC has better yield on 5nm than 7nm), Samsung's 3 yo 8nm improved by Nvidia ~~30-40% (according to some sources) so you can see why there is a shortage of chips not anything else.

Samsung lost bunch of contract because of its sh*tty 8nm Node, including Apple & Qualcomm and Nvidia failed to secure a place in the TSMC, they literally are struggling with demand for 300mm & 450mm wafer. AMD in 2H 2020 doubled the demand for it.

0 updates with INNO3D probably none in the UK. its a the only thing missing from my new build longer this goes on the closer i am to trying for the AMD 6000

I don’t know what is going on with INNO3D to be honest, I thought I would receive my card in October but turns out we’re looking at November I’m so ****** off
