*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Afternoon guys.

If some YT channels are to be believed, the vast majority, if not all pre orders will be in customer hands by mid to late Nov.

If we are believing YT then it would be end of September and Early November. Maybe they are just picking dates three weeks out and then revising their pick each week.

Maybe OC don't want to say 2 months (or whatever they feel) as people will take their money back.

What made you go with a 1080ti? You could have got a brand new 2070 for a little more which i expect would have done you till the 30 lands at your door. Plus if you're that way inclined there's somewhere that allows returns well into the new year atm

I had a 1080 ti before I sold it. 2070 super goes for around 450 new any lower or equal to and the 1080ti trumps all. I went for a blower 1080 ti, cleaned it up for future resale and threw my G12 back on. I went 1080 ti because i knew what I was getting for 300 pounds. It’s the only card worths its price until my 3080 comes. Heck the 1080ti was always the best option before the 3080 was announced...(forgetting any RTX hoplaar)

This from Gibbo is far more specific and yet you claim it isn't: "An OK amount of Zotac 3080 Trinity OC and 3090 Trinity are due with ourselves middle of next week."

You get to know a rough quantity (thanks to the NDA) and the specific models of card they expect to receive, and a delivery day. This is more information than the other site is providing and I can't understand how you might think otherwise.
You know why Gibbo not use numbers ?
A tell you because to not scare ppl and don't stop preorder gpu's ppl must send money to ocuk account thats all true, i hope RADEON will have stock and we can buy RDNA2

I don't know about that. I doubt the majority of people buying a flagship GPU need the refund to clear prior to buying something else.

Maybe not the majority, but still a significant amount. I've seen a lot of people who sold their existing GPU to finance the replacement. There will also be people who had the money available for one but can't allocate enough funds for a second (or at least without using credit/overdrafts which they may not want to do). At any other given time I'd of had to save up a fair bit for a GPU like this, I just happened to come into some money over the summer and built a new PC (which sits waiting for its GPU currently :p)

Even people who could potentially afford it might not want to. If they've decided they're done with even trying to get a 3080 due to supply issues and want to try their luck of AMDs offering they may still cancel before AMDs launch. We've seen people already doing this in this thread tbh

Edit: Post #100 :) Free postage is finally mine except I'm not planning to buy from OCUK again for the foreseeable future...

There is however evidence of short term capacity issues at Foxconn affecting not just GPU production, as a result of iPhone 12 launching a month later than planned. This is why there are a lot of chips and no GPUs! and also why they are confident of high volumes going forward. iPhone 12 (with the new 5G facility) launched on Friday and will be available to customers this coming Friday.

Foxconn were manufacturing FE cards. How does that explain a shortage of cards from every AIB??
It's a shortage of chips from Nvidia causing the problem

The problem is, if nvidia want to be shutting down AMD as competition those cards need to arrive now. Big Navi is only a few days away at this point and people will be cancelling en masse over the next week to ensure they get a refund in time to be first in line for that instead.

I can see the marketing strat but for it to be viable, there needs to be thousands of 3080's arriving across the world pretty much by midweek otherwise the cancellations will start and it'll be too late.

Eh. Well speculation aside about how big Navi might also have supply chain problems, it's true that MOST launches in the GPU sphere are paper launches and initial stock is limited as huge demand outstrips supply. I don't see many people getting a big Navi on day one, I think there's going to be pre-orders for that for most people who want one. I think that's a baseline minimum before you speculate about supply chain problems on top of normal launches being slow, it could be much worse and have similar supply issues. In which case swapping pre-orders might not be wise.

Although I side with benjii, I suspect many if not most of the people in the market for a high end GPU can afford to stay in both queues, even if you don't have the cash up front many people can/will just pay on credit.

I'm guessing the Asus non OC models that have been discontinued include the TUFs? If so, that's pretty ******. This launch is easily the worst in tech history, and I'll definitely be changing to team red if this is the case. **** Nvidia, **** Asus and **** OCUK!
We don't know that yet, and there's evidence to the contrary. I know we're all feeling the paranoia, but let's see.

Stock of MSI is expected at a competitor this week so hopefully OC will be getting some of said stock and it will be more than the 7 cards last week.
Wishing everyone luck on getting cards in the next 7 days.
I think it's pretty damning that we're looking at other websites and using them to infer when our OC orders might be arriving. What a state.

The time horizon is shorter (although this has tightened up this week) and the breadth of manufacturers discussed is narrower, I think that's why it feels worse.

These NDAs for how you can release information on stocks is just a perversion. Nvidia needs some good wolloping form AMD and they might relax a bit and maybe this whole nonsense wouldn’t have happened in the first place. I hear they even stipulate what colour for green you can have on your product box according to J2c review on some 3080 card he reviewed the other day... I remember the days when the box art was utter clown art etc...

That is the dilemma for me. With that said, the lack of Gsync on my current monitor/GPU config is killing me. You don't know what you've got till its gone, I'm not going to be buying a new monitor as I promised the wife I'd build her a PC after Christmas and put this 5700XT in it. I've already bargained with her so I can get a 5900X and put my 3800X in her build :p

Golden week was just an excuse. Nothing will change for small time partners such as OCUK.

Mr Yellow Ferrari should say when he expects the next shipment to be in for each card
Whilst i half agree with you here, i dont think you quite understand what golden week is. Everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, in China shuts down for Golden Week. So i don't believe it was an excuse, but maybe it's not had as big an impact as is being made out.

Because every AIB is using Foxconn !

There's no evidence to support a shortage of GPU chips from Nvidia, however GPU cards are not the only ones affected here, Microsoft new Xbox launch is in exactly the same position with all preorders sold out and no ideas as to when any new stock might be available. Nvidia don't make the GPUs for Xbox, Foxconn are the board assemblers
