*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

While I have been as frustrated as everyone else in this thread and have griped a lot I'd say remember that there are bunch of good people at Overclockers UK who are just doing their jobs to the best of their ability. Its been a a cluster **** but you know people are trying their best there too
Aye agree, I am sure they are a well meaning team of people. Pity that isnt translating through a meaningful corporate communication strategy as demonstrated by competitors in a similar difficult position.

Yes I know it's a cracked record, but reading through the manufacturing in China regards iPhone 12 is just astonishing.

Foxconn have needed to recruit 1 million new workers yes it's not a typo, just to handle iPhone 12 production, and the didn't even begin that process until July this year. Then of course they would have had to have been trained to do the job before they could even begin production. On top of that are the issues with the US vs China trade issues as well.

That's nothing, Nvidia hired 23 kids out of school to build 3080s!

Long term lurker, first time caller.

I've been fairly cool with it all up to now, but the fact there is still no information coming out and OC are not setting any expectation level is very poor customer service. Even if they said that bulk of stock is coming in December, yeah they may lose a few pre orders but at least people have an informed decision and idea of what's going on. Instead, we're left to second guess and people are getting their knuckles rapped when discussing other retailers who are giving a much clearer insight into what the supply situation is like for each card. Maybe a bit more info other than ok amount of Palit due before next lunar eclipse would ensure people weren't looking elsewhere for their products.

I've not used OC before but the complete lack of idea of any level of expectation on a product I ordered with an ETA of September (I'm in the TUF queue in the early 200s) means I won't be using them again.
A lot of this is out of their hands with regard to actual cards, but the information shortage is woefully inadequate.

If overclockers set up a page where you could see every single brand of card, their stock numbers, the amount shipped, the amount coming and the amount planning to be shipped, then we wouldn’t have a problem.

The problem here isn’t the stock, we understand completely that it’s not all your fault but it’s even worse when you are not transparent with your customers , you don’t give them exact numbers , you say stuff like small medium large, just say the bloody number!

It's not a good situation. Welcome, thanks for joining us.

One less person in the Tuf non OC queue (I was position 182), I just cancelled my order.

In the time since placing the order (17:01 on the 17th Sept) I have managed to get the cards I needed for my Wife, Daughter and self and finish off our gaming rigs.
  • FE 3080 (at MSRP)
  • Palit 3080 (at £719)
  • Tuf OC 3080 (at £689)
I have no problems with OC in this mess, they are doing what they can. I will continue to use them when they have what I need at a good price.

I fully expect things to pick up in the coming week(s). If you are trying to get a card then go find out how people are getting together to help each other, and don't feel like you are helpless. I happened to be online and on the right page at the right time with account set up and my payment details ready to autofill (just like I did for OC on release day).

If you want to know my views of the three cards here it is
TL;DNR: If you just want to get a 3080, plug it in and play then get any card. They will all be fine.

Performance (note the Tuf has an out of the box overclock)
They are pretty much the same. Out of the box Time Spy GPU scores were:
  • FE: 17036
  • Palit: 17071
  • TufOC: 17280

Noise
All are quiet gaming
The tuff is especially quiet even when fans are at higher speeds.
The FE gets a bit jet-engine and the Palit sounds good at speed I think.
The FE and Palit will run silent if not under load.
The Tuf has an issue in that the fans don't stop and the lowest they run is 53%

Temps
FE and Palit seem about the same, getting into the 70s
The Tuf hardly breaks a sweat and will sit in the low 60s

Build
FE is just gorgeous, and slim/small in comparison, feels like a solid work of art
The Tuf is like an engendered thing, big and chunky
The Palit is in-between, quite a slim card for an AIB

Overclocking
I only overclocked the FE and Tuf and they came out the same in Time Spy GPU scored.
The FE has the edge as its power will go to 115% while the Tuf is only 110%
  • FE: 18198
  • Tuff: 18088

Personal Choice
I like the FE the best, it is lovely
The Tuf I will go with as there is talk of a Bios that ups the power limit and I feel this card could easily handle much more power
The Palit is nice enough, it gets the job done
Good work
