*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

no that’s a waste of time. If there’s no news there is no post needed. Quite simple really.
That's not how all people think. Some think that no news means that they've forgotton to update it. Saying "There's been no new arrivals today, but also no bad news (ie new delays) either" is better thsn saying nothing at all, for many.

But you can get that whenever you want. Go to the update thread, check for an update, if there are none then the status of the order is that there is no new information. It's just the presumption of guilt on OCUKs part that people think they must have more information than they really do and they're simply withholding it from us, that's almost certainly not true. There's a real kind of hand holding going on if you need an update from OCUK literally every single day saying "nothing has changed today", you can infer that from the lack of updates if you give them the benefit of the doubt that as soon as they know something they'll reflect it here.

I guess the real difference is that I trust that, as someone who co-owns a business I know business owners don't want to peeve off their customers and most people work really hard to make sure that doesn't happen. And that sometimes people who are mad cannot be reasoned with or satisfied.

Thats kind of BS though as the 17th had no updates and then the 18th had...

"We shipped a small amount of the following RTX 3080 cards to customers yesterday. MSI Ventus 3X OC, Gigabyte Aorus Master, Gigabyte Vision OC, Gigabyte Gaming OC, Asus TUF Gaming OC. The following small amount of RTX 3090 cards also shipped to customers yesterday. Asus TUF Gaming OC and MSI Ventus 3X OC."

Do you really think all of those cards arrived by supprise? Or do you think it was a lack of decent communication on the "update thread" ? If you think it was a mystery suprise delivery and OC are doing a great job of keeping you informed, you need to take your nose out of the Overclockers brown hole and wake up to smell the roses... sucking up wont get you a card faster...

Its not a waste of time though, it shows that they are actually there and doing at least something towards Customer Service, information is first priority for CS or should be, even "No Info Today" is better than deathly silence and ineptitude.

This is where I think it comes down to presentation. Personally I'd rather something easier to parse than long form forum posts and, personally, I think a web portal would "feel" more open and user friendly than the occasional forum post. I mean look at how many people call out %competitors% page with the table as what they'd like to see even though Gibbos posts are probably more informative.

I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of cancellations in the next few weeks as AMD, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and 3070 all land within that time.
Far more people will want to replace their credit debt for one of those than a 3090.

OC UK are Nvidia's biggest UK partner though, they told us themselves that they get more cards than anybody else, so their NDAs are obviously more strict than other retailers! The site you mention only get more stock of AIBs and the privilage to sell founders additions so obviously they can give better customer service... wait that doesn't sound right...

I'd agree normally, but on the Inno shipment we were told they would ship late last week, or early next, and yet there has been no update on the boards to say whether they shipped or they didn't. That might have been seen as a courtesy to at least put minds at ease, but there's been silence.

Come on man grow up - they are not here to hold your hands...

it’s quite simple no news means no news.... they have no reason to not share stock updates with us.

Sounds like they need couple's therapy.

I've had 3 separate PM's about where I placed my 2nd order. Please don't bother PM'ing me - this is a forum hosted by Overclockers, please have respect for that.
PMSL you joker....

When you extract your tongue, you may have noticed your allegance hasnt benefitted your queue position

The following small amount of RTX 3090 cards also shipped to customers yesterday. Asus TUF Gaming OC and MSI Ventus 3X OC."

I think they're suffering the same thing other stores are suffering which is completely irregular and unpredictable disruptions in the supply chain. The supply chain is long series of businesses right from the factories and boxing plants down the chain through intermediate dealers and distributors and they all get estimates from the people above them and then make ETAs to the next person in the chain and it leads to unpredictable results. Sometimes that means it's best not to give an estimate on a delivery that you're not sure on.

When the supply chain is full of product and it's healthy and things are moving in a regular and predictable way then you can give more reliable ETAs but you have to understand with such tiny amounts of stock that is not what is happening here. And as much as it would be nice to have a week or a months ETA into the future, we cannot get that info reliably. And no doubt Gibbo also knows that if he estiamtes and he's wrong he'll be punished by customers WAY worse for that. Other competitors have made more guesses and have been more vague and still end up being wrong and having to change it.

I don't know what to tell you, I'm simply OK with the wait, I'm not letting impatience of the situation colour my view of OCUK, I'm not indulging in wild flights of fancy about how they're scalping or not giving us updates on purpose to hide something or whatever the latest accusation dejour is. I can just accept that sometimes situations are bad and you have to accept they're bad and no amount of cope is going to fix that.

One less person in the Tuf non OC queue (I was position 182), I just cancelled my order.

In the time since placing the order (17:01 on the 17th Sept) I have managed to get the cards I needed for my Wife, Daughter and self and finish off our gaming rigs.
  • FE 3080 (at MSRP)
  • Palit 3080 (at £719)
  • Tuf OC 3080 (at £689)
I have no problems with OC in this mess, they are doing what they can. I will continue to use them when they have what I need at a good price.

I fully expect things to pick up in the coming week(s). If you are trying to get a card then go find out how people are getting together to help each other, and don't feel like you are helpless. I happened to be online and on the right page at the right time with account set up and my payment details ready to autofill (just like I did for OC on release day).

If you want to know my views of the three cards here it is
TL;DNR: If you just want to get a 3080, plug it in and play then get any card. They will all be fine.

Performance (note the Tuf has an out of the box overclock)
They are pretty much the same. Out of the box Time Spy GPU scores were:
  • FE: 17036
  • Palit: 17071
  • TufOC: 17280

Noise
All are quiet gaming
The tuff is especially quiet even when fans are at higher speeds.
The FE gets a bit jet-engine and the Palit sounds good at speed I think.
The FE and Palit will run silent if not under load.
The Tuf has an issue in that the fans don't stop and the lowest they run is 53%

Temps
FE and Palit seem about the same, getting into the 70s
The Tuf hardly breaks a sweat and will sit in the low 60s

Build
FE is just gorgeous, and slim/small in comparison, feels like a solid work of art
The Tuf is like an engendered thing, big and chunky
The Palit is in-between, quite a slim card for an AIB

Overclocking
I only overclocked the FE and Tuf and they came out the same in Time Spy GPU scored.
The FE has the edge as its power will go to 115% while the Tuf is only 110%
  • FE: 18198
  • Tuff: 18088

Personal Choice
I like the FE the best, it is lovely
The Tuf I will go with as there is talk of a Bios that ups the power limit and I feel this card could easily handle much more power
The Palit is nice enough, it gets the job done

Fair point - that's what having morals/respect does for you. I'm that far down the line it's would make frig all difference any ways.

Your right, I was in Waitrose teh other day talking to a friend about how lovely the Christmas food in Marks and Spencer looked. So disrespectful of me.... dragged up not brought up clearly.

Morals don't help you here. I've also been on the receiving end of negative statements just because I try to stick to my beliefs. Well done for sticking to them

It's a shame OCUK don't have your morals and outright lies. "We have the best ties in the industry" meanwhile the competition gets the FEs and more stock.

While I have been as frustrated as everyone else in this thread and have griped a lot I'd say remember that there are bunch of good people at Overclockers UK who are just doing their jobs to the best of their ability. Its been a a cluster **** but you know people are trying their best there too
