*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

@EVH Do you know why some of us didn't get any email today? - are they being sent in batches or just not enough time in the day?
No idea. I’m guessing the sheer volume of emails, some emails may be stuck in spam folders and some delayed on the recipient end?

Thought that too, but ive checked and nothing this end, emails coming through just fine — my order was at 14:02 so thought would be one of the first to get an email but not received anything today.

Its not a big issue, just wanted to make sure the order was okay that was all.

Iv checked all folders too, I know emails are coming through ok, keep getting updates to this thread at least.
My order was at 14:04 but is for a palit, since I've not seen anyone else here post queue info for a palit, I'm not sure if the 3090 queue info for those have gone out yet, I know 3080 have though.

I must have the wrong section - i thought this thread was just for the 3090 stock updates not the unofficial forum pcso convention
Lots of self appointed keyboard warriors here bristling with self importance and advice for others to follow - my sympathies to the mods :D

you are missing Nvidia used top quality components too and a custom board and a cooler that is way more expensive than ASUs cooler.

nvidia said the 3080 cooler cost £150 so the 3090 might be £200. That makes the base card and chip cost £1199. Isn’t £350 extra enough for the improvement ASUs made?

NVIDIA used high quality components, ASUS used the best in existence in many instances as far as I understand it from the teardowns. Better capacitors (for example the six MLCC arrays versus the two on the Founders), premium alloy chokes, and an array of 22 high-current power stages, where the FE offers 18 less capable ones. And the way I understand it this is not meaningless bling, since the Strix card adds 10% performance.

https://youtu.be/8IDMS54jEFM — good look at and opinion on the Strix PCB here.

I agree the FE cooler was probably more expensive to make since it’s been commented on a lot. Probably, since nothing’s really known about the cost of the Strix cooler. But honestly, when the FE is running so much hotter than some AIB models it hardly seems money well spent. To be perfectly honest, comparing the components side-by-side, I’m surprised the Strix isn’t even more expensive. We’re all just guessing at this stage, myself included. So take everything here as meandering opinions. But the way I look at it is: 3080 to 3090 performance=10% for £700. FE to Strix performance=another 10% for £260.

I can’t complain!
