*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Jesus, this thing sounds like I should be going to the moon on it, not playing Fortnite!

I can't play FPS games (i can but im so bad at them I don't enjoy it). but my son does.

Today he fired up fortnight with our 3090 Suprim and i was watching him play at a constant 144Hz with 4K res, epic distance and and loving it. We were bottlenecked until I put in the Ryzen 3600 yesterday I know Fortnite isn't exactly "pushing the graphics envelope" and I know my eyes couldn't tell between Quad def and 4K, but he told me it was 'flipping ace'.

I was so happy to see him enjoying it so much. In these Covid times I'll.take every bit of happiness going, and am pretty glad i went all out for a 3090 now, rather than wait the eternity for my 3080.

That's awesome mate!

Can't beat seeing happiness on your kids face!

Nathanial Stewart Im in position 42 for 3090 Strix OC and i didn't get any email last Friday

That either means that im 36th in queue after the stock or you just didn't get an email.

Odd thing is I was 65th in queue a few weeks ago, so if they got 50+ in I should be lower than 36th.

I was in position 100 the week before and on Friday after 50+ came in that week I am in position 70. So
  • Either all the units were not shipped and @pkealy should be due to get one anytime
  • The shipment was less than 50
  • There was a large number of RMA ones :( that got allocated out first
Based on my number @pkealy could be 12th on the list now and would hopefully get one on the next shipment.

Read that on another forum. He's joined the club like the rest of us who couldn't wait. Maybe that's why Nvidia didn't launch a 3080ti, what's the point if the 3090 is selling well there's more profit.
The way I think about it the 3080ti FE will probably be £1000 and the AIBs will be pushing £1400. May as well get a 3090 FE at that price :P

What are people's views on the Palit Gamerock 3090 OC? I am not a massive fan of the aesthetics but seems to be rated from what I've seen. I would eventually want to get it under water anyway if a block is ever released for it. Not sure whether to pick one of those up whilst they are in stock instead of waiting for a Strix OC (which I haven't ordered yet so could be a while...)

I wouldn't recommend Palit, my friend got a Palit 1060 back in the day and he had extremely poor performance with it and it was just overall a terrible experience for him. go for Asus or MSI or Gigabyte.

Thank you - I usually stick with ASUS so was hesitant to try something new. I will probably stick it out and see what happens with stock.

The palit gamerock 3090 oc is an easy equal to the strix, It has one of the best VRM's and power layout on any 3090 with very good quality components used . Alphacool will be producing a water block for it soon. I have had asus GFX cards fail before, but like all things you might get a bad card from any maker. The gamerock series are very good cards.

One of the things putting me off the card was the fact that I couldn't see any blocks for it or any plans to make blocks - I came across your post on techpowerup as part of my research! I found a thread on Alphacool (I hadn't seen that before) but sounds like they're waiting on Palit and even then I wasn't getting the sense that it was 100% certain. Thanks for chipping in with your experience though, you have certainly put me back on the fence!

Hey all, new to the forum. I keep reading about FE cards coming back in stock periodically but I can’t seem to find them on the OC site? Is there a specific link through Nvidia I have to go through? Also, I was hoping to get a suprim x or strix OC but they don’t exist! Will I notice much difference?

Welcome.

We can't link to competitor sites. But I think it's safe to say the Nvidia UK site links you to suppliers. They were selling FE cards direct, but now they send you to the reseller. Today that was not OCUk but a competitor.

I almost bit. But no, I'm not spending £1400 for a card that is only a little bit faster than the 3080. I'll patiently wait. My 1080ti continues to provide.

Thanks for replying, I understand now! What are your thoughts on going for a 3090 FE over aftermarket cards? Will I see much performance difference for the price?
