*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I've had thoughts about this previously and I'm still not sure but perhaps the 3080 supply is looked at in this light because so many more people have pre-ordered that card rather than the 3090?

The 3080 situation is a radioactive dumpster fire in biological waste lab in an active volcano compared to the 3090s, at least from my perspective.

Maybe I'll go nuts and just blow whatever on a 3090 at £££££ price, after all it's only money and you can't take it with you :D

Edit: Saying that, how do we get in the 3090 queue? 3080s been closed for 6 months...

Extra edit: then if my 3080 ever materisalises I can sell it to some other bugger and recoup some of the cost.

The only way to get a 3080 without alerts and a trigger finger like billy the kid is to buy a pre build pc then sell the rest of the parts that you don’t need, haven’t done so myself so not sure how much the 3080 would work out once the rest is sold.

If you are not lucky/quick enough to get an launch day or FE RTX 3080, you are better off saving up a few more £100 and getting 3090 instead for £2k.

It is shocking to see so many people happy to pay nearly £2k for the 3080 on auction sites.

I've pulled the plug, I'm out.

News of the X570s chipset was the final nail in the coffin for my build, so I'll be waiting for the next cycle/update in 6-18 months.

Good luck to those remaining, I was in the queue for the Gigabyte 3090 Xtreme, but I was pretty much back of the queue so I don't think many people will move forward.
Apologies. But what’s this news if the x570 chipset? Couldn’t find anything on Google. I’ve got a X570 in my rig with my new GPU (please please please don’t say something will go bang).

People are reporting the (s) in the new x570s chipset stands for (Silent)

x570 Motherboards without active fans to cool down the PCie4 chipset.

Just like the ASUS x570 Dark Hero. Which I have and highly recommend.

I just looked and even if you bought one of the iChill Frostbite in stock today @ £2600 and mined on it, Eth is so high it'd pay for itself (including electricty cost) in less than 300 days. Kind of explains a lot!

Sheesh, at this rate I'll get a 3090 at current costs, then have to whip it into mining to pay for itself. Hopefully they won't become self aware in the next driver update and revolt against the human slave masters :p

It was brother & I's decision together tbh. He pulled the plug 6 weeks ago & is going on holiday instead  We both want to build matching systems together, so have agreed to both wait until AM5 in 2022 (hopefully).

The X570s is a tiny thing, but it was the straw that broke the horses back for me, seeing as I was literally last in the queue.

On that note, anyone know what the hell I can do with an 8x8GB kit of 3600 CL14? Bloody supplier won't take it back!

Oh thank the lord. I thought something was wrong. Also I realised. I miss read the message. I have the x570 not the “S”. Freaked out for a moment.

Surely but having active fans means the components would over heat and cause issues.

I’ll give this a Google and a gander. Thanks for the info bud.

Ah bud. That does suck, but at least you and your brother have a plan. So I hope next year is kinder to you both in terms of getting components.

If your DRAM are still all packed and sealed. You could ask the supplier to make an exception as they haven’t been opened.

I had this issue with a Corsair PSU, I spoke to the supplier and agreed that I would pay for shipping. So maybe try that if you can.

It's amazing how pre-builts are now better value. Where I live (non-EU) the following PC can be had:

HP Omen GT13-0987nz:
  • Intel Core i9 10900K w. Z490
  • RTX3090
  • 64 GB HyperX DDR3200 RAM
  • 2 TB SSD
...for £2470. All for the price of what many RTX 3090's are going for!

The world has gone mad.

But do they have availablity though?

I can already spot the flaw in this plan.

Excluding VAT? The equivalent UK price would be nearly £3k if so.

Also, them OEM 3000 Series GPU do look a bit Sad :(

Seems that OCUK are now getting regular stock. They had 4-5 different 3090 models in this week for more than 10 mins. Even the ASUS RTX Tuf OC.

YEAH, the prices are Crazy £24** but if anyone thinks this is going to get better anytime soon. Good luck with that

I picked up the ASUS TUF OC this week. After waiting 7 months for a GPU I have no regrets.

This graphics card amazing great build quality and has some of the lowest temperatures, 62c full game load, in a Be Quite 500dx case.

Look, if you pay the extra to get a GPU right now you could alway cut out going to the PUB of expensive takeaways for a few months.

Or take up hobby mining
