*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Hey man if you do end up bagging one this week and I end up out of luck, you can help pep me up for the step up from the 1080ti to the 3090, as I’m making the same leap!

Sure, I’ll be the Pep Master. :D

That reminds me, I must get some bench’s done before hand so I can compare. I’m going to be held back here and there with my current 5930k but that will be swapped out soon. We should be looking at around double the performance, which will be nice.

turns out 3090 is a cutdown ga102 btw.. lol
e.g. the full die isnt unlocked
You say "turns out" as if this isn't at least a month old news

I already have a spreadsheet knocked up with Time Spy score and benches for Metro: Exodus, Control, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, DOOM 2016 (Don't have Eternal) and one other game I've somehow forgotten

Reading quite a few messages here I see there's a lot of discussion about the OC vs non-OC Strix. You guys realise it's £1649 vs £1699 right? - If you're worried about the 50 quid difference at this point you probably shouldn't be buying either card and try to get an Asus TUF or FE card at considerably less cost.

I’ve upgraded from the 8700k to the 10900k In preparation for the arrival of the 3090, so pretty much starting with a new set up. Really happy I skipped a generation...should make the big leap in performance combined with ray tracing more mind blowing!

I'm going 4790k to 10900k and GTX 980 to RTX3090........I'm expecting quite an improvement.

You probably wont gain much from the 10900k in terms of frame rate in games from the 8700k, synthetic benchmarks you will, heavily OC'd 6+ series are still happy to run this card without an issue. Either way, still a fantastic CPU :-)

I needed a CPU upgrade to go with the 3090, but that would have meant a motherboard upgrade too, since I was on a 1151 socket with a i7700k. So I just threw in the towel and sold my old system complete. The system waiting for this card is 10900k/z490. I did actually benchmark my new CPU against my old one (simulated) in CPU-Z and it obliterated it. Lol. Expected.

I was already in trouble with the missus for splurging £1600 on a GPU, so at that point I had nothing to lose than to upgrade the lot in one whack ;)

Also took the opportunity to upgrade memory from 16gb 3000mhz to 32gb 3600mhz, again baby step improvements but I wanted to be able to run the 3090 flat out.

I had the same realisation man, but still need to sell my old gear. I bought the z490 Aorus Master, given all of the fancy features on a high end mobo are pretty much wasted on me (just wanted built in Wi-fi, Bluetooth and 3 x m.2 sockets :D)
