cuz it uses the same memory clock on 3090, but core clock is just 200-300mhz higher
Really don’t know why it’s a 450W part. I’ve been running the VRAM on my 3090FE @ 21Gbps for the past year, albeit with 24 x 1Gb chips rather than 12 x 2Gb chips, but the GPU is hardly offering much more performance than the 3090FE, so why the need for an additional 100W? OC’d, mine can peak at 400W just, but typically it’s 350W or less.

Dont see why you would want one if you already had a 3090FE tbh.
Strange my 3080TiFE will sit at just under 400W when you up the power limit with no other parameters changed just letting the chip work within the uppped limit as it sees fit, so I would expect a 3090FE to do that more readily and the 3090TIFE to require 400+W more often too, to get it at <350w I have to undervolt.
7 months away assuming it launches then and that you can get hold of a 4070, if its anything like my 3xxx purchase it wasn't until 12 months after launch when I was lucky enough to land one at MSRP, I am so glad I only sold one of my 1080s until I had one as I would have been stuffed, should this shortage situation continue you could be nudging 2yrs before you have one of the next gen at a reasonable price.

I can name the 3090 owners on this forum that will be frantically hitting refresh on various store pages come launch day for the 3090 Ti, Way more money than sense

Its used on hypothetical massaging where because the 3070 was close to a 2080Ti on a generational leap, its apparently applied to anything now. While the 40 series might improve again, I would expect the obligatory 20-25% improvement - only the RT technology might be where larger gains can be had. I have heard that they will consume more power but lots of info to digest between now and then so we will see.
I thinks nvidia regret two things about the 30xx launch. The performance increase over 20xx was too much of a jump, plus pricing of fe range was too low. Not in our opinion of course.
Which is why the 10gb 3080 fe is now eol. A 12gb version will be priced at 800/850. With the 16gb 3070ti taking on the £650 price bracket. Nvidia want to push up the mrsp so we don't gasp too much when the 40xx drop.

Turing didn't offer a lot and they layered up the pricing. This was before all this lack of components etc and they cant sidestep that one. Then they seem to come up with nonsense naming tiers with multiple flavours around the same products.
The 3080 is where it should be priced, between £600-700. This should be what you have to pay if your an enthusiast gamer type. They can offer nutter tiers above this for silly money as its then up to the consumer to pay for it. Now revisiting the entry tier, the 1050Ti was priced correctly between £100-150. If you start back there you could tower up a sensible stack.

Any yet, the same well known favourite dish name have had the best priced 3090's for a while now (when they have stock).
there is nothing about 3080 being EOL, its been a rumour going for so long now yet we keep seeing 3080 FE drops.
Reading the overclockers stock situation thread. Overclockers themselves are advising pre orders above a certain number to cancel as they are not receiving AIB 3080 stock anymore.
As nvidia supply fe cards, its reasonable to assume they will have the final stock of 3080's. Apart from occasional fe 3080 drops there is literally nothing about.
i am not disagreeing mind you, but this rumour has been going even before the 3080TI is out.
The only reason the 10gb 3080 could possibly be eol is one based purely on nvidia price gouging. Add two extra gb vram, tweak the cuda cores, then add £150/200 to the mrsp.
It's all about nvidia milking the 30xx until the 40xx has a paper launch.

I believe 1 of the OCUK officials said the 3080 10GB is now EOL not too long ago, I'd wager that to be true considering the 3080 12GB is replacing the 10GB model.

Very true. Although why are nvidia keen to offer larger VRAM models now it surely cant be just to excuse a price hike (temptation)?
