nVidia GT300's Fermi architecture unveiled

Is there any mention of something to compete with ATI's new Eyefinity multi-monitor support?

Not as yet, it depends how popular ATI's Eyefinity is. If it proves successful I would expect to see Nvidia produce it's own rival technology when it refreshes it's 40nm cards.

Nvidia ought to have it's own Youtube channel called 'How to Fake it - The Way it's Meant to be Faked!'

How much do you reckon the card will be on launch? £300+?

That's a pretty solid assumption. If they were around or even a little over £400 it wouldn't surprise me.

Hell, with the instability in the economy at the moment, by the time we see these cards in February the exchange rate could be anywhere between 1.4 and 1.8 dollars per pound, so even if we can guess the dollar price it would be hard to guess the retail price over here.

Well I was thinking of holding back my order for the 5850 and waiting to see what nvidia brings but if there initial power card starts at £350+ then hell no :p

I don't think you'll find a better value high-end card than the 5850. I'm confident that the fermi will be a beast, and will be faster than the 5870, but I'm sure the 5850 will remain the best value of the top end cards until at least the next refresh.

NO NO NO NO NO NO

PC GAMING IS ON THE RISE

STARCRAFT 2 AND DIABLO 3 WILL HERALD A NEW GOLDEN ERA FOR PC GAMING!!!!!!!!!!

LoL has nvidia ever launched a new card that was under <400£? In the last couple of years? You guys make me laugh thinking this will be 350£. Thats just wishful thinking. Yeah it will be 350£ Christmas 2010.
Er me thinks never...

As others have said, with the extra features of the new card even if it is only 10-15% more than a 5870, I can see it being £400+

They will sell plenty at that price anyway. They did with the GTX280 until ATI brought out their killer card.

This card will have around 6gb of ram and i'd expect the card will retail for at least £1000

Oh god, how many more idiots do we have to listen to saying "it'll be *add comedy price tag here* on launch, typical Nvidia haha lol".

Wasn't funny the first time and certainly isn't funny the 50th time.

By what fudzilla is reporting nvidia officials seem to eb confident it will outperform a 5870 no problems, if lets say it is 10-15% faster I would guess at £370 upwards

And ATI said the 2900xt would match/beat the 8800gtx! ;)

The truth is that even Nvidia aren't sure atm as they haven't set the clocks yet. It is also aiming at a moving target as driver improvements will surely bring another 10-20% increase to the 5870 over the next 2-3 months, while Nvidia drivers will still be pretty raw.

This is what the card is replacing, notice it says "TESLA" on the front!

The tesla versions are always much more expensive.

The geforce version will be MUCH cheaper, and will have the exact same architecture. The only hardware difference will be support for 3Gb and 6Gb of memory in the tesla version. Also, the high-end tesla "cards" will be available in rackmount form.

You can't estimate geforce prices from tesla any more than you can from quadro (which can go for £3k+). When the 8800GTX was released, the equivalent tesla card was also well over £1000.
