** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

Luke ( Linus site ) only said that for the price of $599 is good value . not £619-649

I imagine the prices will come down. My Oculus doesn;t arrive until July so i can wait.

But if the aftermarket cards come in at more than this (they will) then AMD look to be upping their game, and i'll get a couple of their news ones for the same price lol

I was hoping this would force the 980ti down, but with those prices sitting at 600+ the 980ti won't drop into the 300 region for some time :(

I think a lot of people had that expectation, wonder how many are now wishing they'd kept their 9xx series instead of sell up. Considering it's not even the Ti version, its a ludicrous amount of money...god only knows what the Ti will up for!

But even so it really isn't 'good value' at that price. Just early adopter premium taken to an extreme. But ah well was gonna wait for the ti anyway...shall just have to plan to wait a while after that for sensible prices.

Lol @ £620+ for something you can buy in the US for $599 (£415)
Sorry guys, but alike my second Strix 980Ti, i'll have a family member buy my 1080 for me and send me it.
Oh and yes you can avoid customs with happy birthday wrapping :P

The costs were always going to be higher than most people wanted to pay. The 1070 will likely be £450+ and the TX or equivalent will also likely be £900+ too. Nvidia don't need to reduce their msrp's as people, including me who will be ordering 3, will buy them.

If you don't like the price, or can't afford to pay it, then don't; but don't think the the 1070 or TX will give you a perceived better value as it won't meet your expectations.

My ethos is thus; I want the card and I want the big pascal coming in the next 6-12 months, so I will buy on the 27th, get as much use as possible, sell them just before release of big pascal and trade up, accepting the loss of £100+ per card or whatever.

This obviously isn't for everyone, but please, let's not turn this pre-order thread into another place to moan about the price, there are plenty of other threads to do that.

Cheers
Ben

How does it work for warranty? Are you in trouble if it dies after a year?

It's not very expensive to send smallish parcels to the US.
Send without box (which you don't need anyway)

It's also worth noting: When you receive sponsorship, or review products from america, they say ''Gift'' or ''sample'' on the packaging to avoid any handling or fee's.
It works the same way when returning them.

I do agree there is an unfair 'uk' tax being added from the US price but I have to say that with, in some cases, twice the 980Ti performance I'd rather spend £620 on a 1080 than £500 on a 980Ti.

Off to the USA soon so might head to a 'no sales tax' state next to Boston
