Nvidia GTX295 Information

Er can we please not pretend that piracy only affects pc's as a friend of mine has a xbox360 and a ps3 and every single game he owns is pirated so piracy is a problem whatever the platform. Piracy is going to increase as people get more worried about their money as they still get bombrded with the "buy this now you know you wnt it" but don't have the spare cash so obvious really. Anyway that is way off topic so best to get back on topic i have made my main gfx card purchase for this year and next so how this card performs is a curiosity value for me nothing else.
 
Piracy is worse on the pc i think as you don't need to invalidate warranty on chipping the pc. I think piracy will be around for awhile on all formats as there always seems to be a way around the security put in place no matter what machine you have.

The gtx295 should be the fastest single card around when it arrives but i think it depends on how much faster than an x2 it is and at at what price. Anyone with a x2 as you have would be mad to buy one though.

Piracy has been around since the beginning of the zx spectrum era 1980..and is here to stay...it will not go away and i have read 100s of threads in magazines over the years(no internet back in those days),if people can get something a lot cheaper or for free then they are going to do that instead of buying it arnt they...common sense...:)Merry Christmas

It's currently impossible to play backup PS3 games by any means.

I read in Custom PC a few months back that cell technology is being released on PCI and Toshiba are already using it in their media laptops. It also said it would mainly be used for encoding etc. When i get home Ill look up the article again.

Just yesterday I was setting up my Cousin's PS3 which he brought round. The thing that amazed me the most was how far from plug in and play consols have come. At least you dont have to tune the TV like with sega, but switching between all the imputs, surely some sort of automatically reconising between scart, 1080i and 1080p tv's? Another problem (which I have with the wii) is wireless controls. So much annoyance sorting and charging battries all the time. Apart from all that I have to say that I did enjoy playing it (buzz and COD4 with all the family who are mostly technophobes) although the pc does look far better.

For a start one core is disabled in the PS3 Cell for better yields, so it has 7. The Cell's cores are nothing like the cores in a PC CPU, they are way more simplistic. Infact they are not technically CPU cores, they are SPE's. There very good for streaming stuff and pacific things, but for X86 code a Athlon 64 would be faster than a Cell. The Cell is certainly not ahead of PC tech.

One thing is for sure. Console gaming pushes shovelware games, overpriced downloaded content that should be there at first place and dumbed down games. countless of examples

Btw, sony and microsoft are losing big time this generation because of their choice of high end hardware compared to a console like the Wii. it is almost certain that the next generation of consoles will have minor performance increases and heavily focused on casuals after the tremendous success of the Wii. Dont forget that Microsoft and Sony are huge corporations and will go where the money is (casuals). Have fun waving your Psii remote i'll keep supporting the "dead" platform that promotes innovation and provides the best experience.

I don't own any of the current gen consoles myself. I've seen other people's Xbox 360's and the build quality is shockingly poor. The PS2 also was pretty bad.

I agree that the next gen's will feature incremental improvements due to the success of the Wii.

But PC gaming still has countless problems (i.e. not being able to install a DVD copy of Crysis Warhead more than 3 times due to stupid SecuRom) and the endless patches and not being able to get the game to run (like I've encountered with COD5).

I only play PC games now, and enjoy playing the same old FPS games over and over again, but there are a lot of people that don't & the only real alternative is stuff like The Sims and World of Warcraft, which I hate.

Harsh calling him a liar, i'm not sure or clued up about PS3 games being copied, but to be honest, i've had a bit of a play with a PS3 - in short, i've never bothered buying one, i think its a bit pants. Nearly everyone i know who owns a Xbox360 has heaps of copied games. Sometimes the only original games they have are the ones bundled with the unit, the rest.. All dual layer copies.

Anyone who tries to push piracy blame on any platform are totally and utterly wrong! 'Piracy' in one form or another, has been around since gaming began. I recal the same old piracy is 'killing the industry' rubbish eons ago when people used to record top 20 charts hits from the radio instead of buying the single lol
 
Well i am not into pirating but i had heard about one site that seems to be popular with the something for nothing crowd and it took less then 5 minutes to find pirated ps3 games and how to run them so i think not only was it a bit strong to call someone a liar but also completely wrong as obviously pirated games do exist for the ps3.

I don't have any console's so can't say if they work or not but there seems to be an awful lot of people claiming to have them working. Piracy has always happned and always will i can remember one guy when i was at school copying his tape collection and selling them for a quid and that was over twenty years ago even though the industry was saying tehy would be out of business in five years if it wasn't stopped.

I personally don't support it and only buy what i really want when i have the money to do it but i can understand how many people being made to want this and that will turn to it if they don't have the cash.

Anyway going completely off topic here so has anyone got any more reviews for this new card or any other information ??.
