Overall, GF100 hasn’t exactly delivered. I think we were all hoping it would provide a substantial gameplay improvement over the Radeon HD 5870 and Radeon HD 5850. Competition is good, and we would like to see it. Unfortunately, our experiences weren’t as positive as we had wanted. When you break it all down to cost, power and performance, the GTX 480 and GTX 470 don’t measure up. The only saving grace is the awesomeness of GTX 480 SLI, but it comes at some high costs.

That all said, the GF100 is not a 5800 or 2900 redo, but it sure makes you think about it.

LOL, I'd feel almost embarrassed to come on here and say I just bought a GTX 480!

They (nVidia) did not feel embarrassed releasing it in the first place ... why should you? :(

They failed, this was supposed to be "the next" gen ...

So how many are gonna spend more money for 5870 performance? As well as taking into account a louder fan, higher temps, more electric used.

Hands please.

Regarding Power Consumption

From the Legion Hardware review;
Even when compared to a pair of Radeon HD 5870 Crossfire graphics cards the GeForce GTX 480 did not look great, using just 13% less power than two of AMD’s flagship single GPU graphics cards. However when simply idling, the GeForce GTX 480 still consumed 25% more power than a pair of Radeon HD 5870 Crossfire graphics cards, which is a real concern.

Seriously, who even people who want a Nvidia card is going to buy the 470 at £316 when a 5850 is quicker and £120 cheaper? Plus for £40 you can at least have a decentish performing 480?

Massive disappointment from a neutral perspective. I'm all for seeing graphic technology advance and push the boundaries. Having bought a 5870 on release and overclocked it to 1000MHz, 6 months on and we're no further forward.

Shame :(
