Nvidia sell far more GPUs than AMD, why? Because they are seen as better products. If you don’t have the better product or atleast that perception in mindshare then you need to be cheap enough so that people are prepared to disregard the better product in favour of cost.

By the 10th gen Intel was offering a 10 core CPU for $500 instead of the $1000 they were previously asking for 10 cores when ryzen first launched so the competition did make a difference. Would Intel have done this in a world without Ryzen?

If it was up to Intel we would all still be on 4 core CPUs and we saw how Intel destroyed the CPU market back then and stagnated it until AMD got their act together again and gave us Ryzen and kicked Intel in the backside.

It's Computex that did it, all those companies jumping on the AI bandwagon sullied the name AI, now everyone thinks it's marketing BS. :p

There will be a lot of up/down movement you just don't see it reported all the time. There is a tiny difference between the value of Nvidia/apple/MS and they will keep switching positions

That stagnation was also a good thing. You didn't need to upgrade the CPU and since it wasn't something better anyway, devs had to optimize what they've launched.

If you keep looking towards the future and adding interest, nothing will be valued at its real price.

Until it all comes tumbling down, and the loop continues.

Interesting

between 2002 and 2008 AMD tried several times to buy Nvidia, and as part of the negotiations, Jensen said he'd only agree if he became the CEO of the new merged company

Imagine how the market would look today if Nvidia had merged with AMD in the early 2000s

Ancient news. There were articles about it back in 2012, and there was talk on forums about rumours to that effect years beforehand.
