i dont know what you are talking about when steam survey indicates that 70% of the systems are equipped with a dx10 gpu. way better than your quoted survey that shows 53% of the systems with integrated intel gpus. talk about irrelevant study to the topic... people that have steam installed are gamers with dedicated gpus fitted in their rigs. so admit that you were wrong and dont post another reply that makes no sense or even better dont post anything at allI don't believe the steam survey is representative of the current market as the majority are old 32bit XP systems running 7600s and such.
They don't even list the ati 5 series.
LooL were talking about the todays market share not stuff based on the steam data collection thing, 80% of the GPUs used in that survey a years old, actual sales in todays market is much closer. ATI have caught up with NV and if Fermi is anything but amazing, they will overtake them.

The point is that most of the systems have GPUs which were not purchased in the last several quarters so it doesn't give an indication of the market share!

Shouldn't that mean there should be a large target market then?
Should be interesting in Jan with ATI releaseing the new cards & if stock gets sorted.
Along with fermi possably putting people off buying atm.
Edit: I don't think Nvidia would ever publicly say they aren't happy with fermi's performance. That would be PR suicide.
could you point me an nvidia card that is completely out of stock in OCUK apart from the gtx 295?
Nvidia is expected to delay its next-generation DirectX 11-supporting GPU (Fermi) to March, 2010, while AMD will launch more GPUs in January-February, according to sources from graphics card makers.
Nvidia originally scheduled to launch Fermi in November 2009, but was delayed until CES in January 2010 due to defects, according to market rumors. However, the company recently notified graphics card makers that the official launch will now be in March 2010, the sources noted.
Nvidia plans to launch a 40nm GDDR5 memory-based Fermi-GF100 GPU in March, and will launch a GF104 version in the second quarter to target the high-end market with its GeForce GTX295/285/275/260, the sources pointed out.
For performance level markets, Nvidia will allow its GeForce GTS250, GT240/220 and 9800GT/9500GT defend against AMD's Radeon HD 5770/5750, 4870/4850 and 4670/4650.
For the mainstream market, Nvidia will mainly push its GeForce 210.
Meanwhile, AMD will launch 40nm Radeon HD 5670/5570 (Redwood) and HD 5450 (Cedar) GPUs at the end of January or in February 2010, the sources noted.
In related news, although Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC's) 40nm process yields have already improved, capacity is still not sufficient to supply the two GPU giants fully which may have an impact the launch schedules, the sources added.
umm them people are spending £300.00 on a ps3 and loads of games hense why pc games market is dropping
£300.00 on a graphics card to plays 1 games is not good value... also fermi will probably be what about £400 for say the 380 probably £300 for 360 which i agree are expensive but sure ati will have to drop to £200 or lower on the 5870. so people at moment are paying over £150 for somthing at moment

they are not in a good position atm but i'm sure they'll be fine in the future. lets not forget its nvidia we're talking about here... best gpu maker in the world. ati with the 5xxx series managed to win back 0.25% (lol) markeshare from nvidia last month due to the stock shortages. btw lets not forget that in the real world which is way different than this biased forum people are still buying nvidia cards.
This!
I love how they're saying it'll be the fastest GPU on the market... OFC it will be, it's facing off against tech 6 months old!
That being said, I'm still excited... PRICE WAR!!!!!
