Nvidia Is Happy With The Performance Of Fermi

I wondered how long it would take you to chime in kyle, you just can't help yourself can you
You are one of the main reasons I don't bother that much with the video card section anymore, you say you're not on one side or the other, but then proceed to slate Nvidia at every opportunity you get.
You then have the audacity to claim you're not an ATi fanboy, go figure
Honestly I think you need to get out more if something so trivial winds you up this much!
I'm with PakJai on this one, he hit the nail on the head with this:
I'll go with this theory everytime, there is really no need to be loyal to either side, it's the performance that counts not brand loyalty.
I will wait and see what Fermi can do then make my mind up what card to get for DX11 gaming. If it's ATi then fair enough I really dont care, I'll just get whatever performs the best for my budget
I'm going to try and clarify my stance on nVidia and ATI.
I don't like nVidia's business practices - the renaming of products for one. But that's their choice, and my choice if I buy them or not.
The main reason I tend to not like them is because i've had nothing but trouble with their drivers, and for the life of me I can't ever get them to work properly. So I tend to just stick with ATI where possible, as it saves me hair in the long run.
Having said that, it's been a while since I had my 8800GT so i'd consider a move back if the price/performance was right.
I'm going to add though that what they did with removing PhysX functionality from drivers when an ATI card was used is childish, ridiculous, and reprehensible - and if Microsoft can get fined for bundling an internet browser then why the hell have nVidia not been fined for what is quite obviously anti-competitive?
Oh and coupe69, I know how it feels. I come into some threads hot with flaming and arguing. But sometimes I just can't help but wade in myself.

There is nothing wrong with someone being loyal to a brand until that loyalty effects judgement, like paying through the nose, attacking everyone who does not use the same as them & attacking people who complain about the blatant wrong doings of a company behind a brand.

I really don't think you've read my post.
I dislike nVidia, I'm not going to pretend I don't, but me disliking nVidia doesn't have anything to do with ATi.
I dislike nVidia because I don't like how they operate, as Tute said.
So yes, I do have the "audacity" to claim I'm not an ATi fanboy, I simply don't like nVidia.

As much as I dislike them, I'm not stupid and I'd buy nVidia cards if they had the best price to performance ratio.
Putting it simply, I buy ATi because I don't like nVidia and they're the ONLY alternative.
How hard is that to understand? Let me make it very clear once more.
The fact that I dislike nVidia doesn't make me an ATi fanboy, and I know you couldn't even begin to explain to me why that would be.
I really don't know why I keep having to tell you this Rroff, me disliking nVidia does NOT equal me being an ATi fanboy.
I dislike nVidia and you know why I do, you also know it's not because of anything to do with ATi. ATi are simply the better of two "evils" at the moment.
I have no loyalty to ATi, I simply don't like nVidia.
I will most likely be upgrading my 5870 to Fermi as long as it's not a total stinker similar to Geforce FX was, 5870 is a nice card but I'm still not a big fan of the driver support.
In the last few months I've had lots of problems running less mainstream/older games and can't even get some simple things like Stellarium to work without horrendous flickering and less than 1fps making it unusable, even my laptop with a rubbish Intel chipset and 3 year old drivers can run that.

I didn't realise it was one or the other.
But you didn't buy Nvidia when they were miles ahead of ATi not so long ago, when the 8800 series of cards were out and they were best bang for buck, you stuck faithfully with your ATi cards.
And that quote above totally contradicts this one here.

I haven't forgotten the 100s of times you've savaged people for the slightest of anti-ATI sentiments when absolutely no talk of nVidia was in sight - even if you have.
Read through this thread and the bit that made me laugh a lot was the whole "nvidia are right on plan" bit sorry that was hilarious really was when even nvidia can't seem to decide when they are going to release fermi we're expected by some on here to believe there is a plan.
As for the whole fanboy thing yawn yawn it really is tedious and most people couildn't give a rats about what company makes what the two main things are now as they always have been what the best performance i can get for the money i have and thats it whether ati make it ot nvidia people will buy what gets them the best for the lowest cash.

Firstly, I bought a 2900XT which equated to an 8800GTS in performance and lower in price, I WAS going to buy SLi 8800GTXes, but I decided against it as I didn't want a crappy nFarce motherboard.
Since then, ATi have been on top when it came to price to performance.
Plus, I haven't had THAT many new cards anyway. 2900XT > 3870X2 which got sent back for a refund and I purchased 2 4850s.
Also, it doesn't contradict it at all.
"I buy" is in relation to what I've bought in the past.
They were referring to different points in time.
If nVidia had the price performance lead IN THE FUTURE and I was looking to buy a card, I'd get an nVidia one, I'm talking a clear performance lead, not a few percent here and there, as in those circumstances, I'd rather not support nVidia, but if it came to it, value for my own money is more important.

Again, that was when people have been talking BS. I've jumped on people for talking BS about nVidia too.
When people feel the need to talk lies about "drivers" "quality" "premium" I'll say something.

You do a lot of calling yourself, yet some people here regard you as one of the worst nVidia "fanboys" around.
I dunno why its laughable... nVidia haven't fallen behind plan, theres been a few upsets on the way, but they always planned for the 200 series refresh around setp/nov 09 and the 300 series for the end of Q1 2010... ATI has put the knife into their 200 series refresh and they've been unable to bring Fermi ahead... but that doesn't mean they've fallen behind.
I wouldn't waste your time... its not like it used to be where you could learn a lot... now you get looked down on.
