I don't think so... Spent £2100 in my GPU. I don't get to upgrade often having a PC game hating Mrs. She wanted a new car, I wanted a new gaming PC so a resoluting was made. My PC cost more then her £7500 car!Was this due to their cheap prices

I really hope AMD and Intel can bring more to the table. It will hopefully bring the prices down. Cost of Nvidia GPU's at present are mental.Only Nvidia benefits from the continued existence of AMD (and now Intel) in the space, as it stops them from being viewed as a monopoly and bring investigated as such.
They are, that's why PS5 Pro went up in price. A decently fast one should be around $1000.Is this due to consoles are being sold far to cheap these days ?
Am wondering this due to a Playstation 1 cost around £299 way back in the 90's

Of course. This is really the problem though. You're not asking them to bring more to the table so you can buy their product, you're asking them to do it so Nvidia make their cards cheaper.
How does that make any of the situations better though? Why would the market be better for the consumer at all?Of course.
Well done Nvidia at reaching 90%.

"invented" being the right phrase, they just adopted a term that was already out there to their newest gpu at the time to claim they were first.Regarding "highest marketshare of its history", not 100% true, depending on how strict you are in defining the market. nVidia "invented" the GPU (blurred line between invention and innovation) so their 1st product had technically 100% market share.

I am planning or hoping rather for good thing for AMD next gen. I am not expecting it to beat a 4090 or 5090. I would just want something with good raster performance and better ray tracing performance. Even though I am indifferent to ray tracing I noticed that the Indy game forces you to have ray tracing. It could be a worrying trend or it could be nothing nevertheless I would like to keep all the bases covered. You're never going to buy an Intel or AMD GPU, Nvidia know this and treat you accordingly, good luck....
I think a lot of people don't realise how bad a monopoly is and will only realise it when they have no choice any more. You're never going to buy an Intel or AMD GPU, Nvidia know this and treat you accordingly, good luck....

A lot of the time they do already. Admittedly DLSS has an edge over other upscaling and RT performance is better (but at lower end that isn't much of a factor anyway) but people have preconceived notions about other cards cause they read something on the internet 10 years ago and are adamant anything non Nvidia is terrible. There's always a chance people will take a shot on AMD or Intel if they provide at least the same features, performance and consistency at similar price. Until then...
I'm not sure how different an Nvidia monopoly would be for us at this point.I think a lot of people don't realise how bad a monopoly is and will only realise it when they have no choice any more.
Don't Nvidia cards have a lower power draw too?A lot of the time they do already. As humbug said, it doesn't seem to affect Nvidia's pricing decisions.
AMD seem to base their prices on Nvidia as opposed to the other way around.
Apparently that it's pointless and they shouldn't even bother trying. I'm surprised they haven't pulled out of the consumer GPU market already, especially if they have no appetite for it.We don't buy a lot more AMD GPU's when they are cheaper. Not enough, it hardly moves the needle, what do you think this teaches AMD?
