Even if 1080 is faster than the 980Ti i bet it will be under 10%, and i guess pre-oced 980Ti's will still be faster by a decent margin. Either way though i'm pretty sure it will be a close call, pointless side-grade unless you have a 980/970.

10% lol. 700-900 series was 30-40% faster core-core. That was with Kepler-maxwell alone.

We have new arch, node and memory.

And Kaap I'm sure you know. A card that has more memory will use more memory. A 980Ti wouldn't use 10.5gb. 8gb is enough for 4K and 4 cards.

The thing is, when you say that, a lot of people reading this will not understand that. They will think you are referring to single cards. It would be much better and accurate if you mentioned that what you are saying refers to mgpu or consider sticking your system in your sig.

I stopped putting my system in my signature a long time ago as some people don't like it.

I won't be getting any mid range Pascal/Polaris cards and if I do get any full fat cards next year I will probably not mention it on these forums for the same reasons above.:)

XCOM 2 won't run on a 980 Ti @2160p maxed out as this is one game that really does use more than the 6gb available. :)

There are games like XCOM 2 where you can use 10.5gb gaming on a single Titan X

That was a game where you selected a frankly dumb level of AA at 4k to justify the Titan X over lower memory cards that tend to offer better performance.

Buying a Titan X just for gaming was never a smart choice.

Lol. Go and research it. Maxwell managed a 30%+ increase over kepler in terms of per core performance. You only have to compare the 780ti to the 980ti to see that.

I was talking about the midrange cards compared to previous high end. 780 Ti -> 980, 980Ti -> 1080.. It's obvious the 1080Ti should be 30-40% faster than the 980Ti of course.

I know what you mean. But the 1080 supposedly has 2560 cuda cores vs the 980's 2048. 300 less than the 980Ti.

It should in every way be 30-40% faster than the 980Ti.

Many delusional posters on here still think the 980ti/titanX will be faster - simply hilarious!

I can't remember anyone saying that the 1080 would be slower than the 980Ti. Can you link to a post/poster that says that.

Point out some of these delusional posters.

Because I think when you go looking, you will find that people were talking about the 1070 not the 1080, and they think that the 1070 will be slower than the 980Ti.

You can't just go on the CUDA cores 1 on Maxwell doesn't directly equate to 1 on Pascal by any means.
