I was having the same problem with my ATI card,

I fixed it by wearing ladies underwear, placing a large trout on my head, taking pictures of it and posting them on the forums.

Runs like a dream now.

Step 1 - download Microsoft dot net 1.1 and 2.0 and install them both.
Step 2 - download the Cataylst 6.9 package from www.ati.com and run it.
Step 3 - Enjoy your ATI card.

Not difficult.

Is this what I should do aswell when I build my new rig, or does that only apply to people who have had previous cards? Shall I install windows and the software that came with my mobo and GFX card, is that pretty much it? I've heard about omega aswell but still totally confused.

hmm...my ban is inevitable...many thanks all...god bless!!

I don't see why you'll be banned.

Infact now I don't see why you'll even be suspended seeing as you edited the swearing.

Just keep it clean from now on and hopefully you'll be fine and dandy.

WTF  CCC is the Catalyst Control Centre where you set all your AA/AF settings, lots of ppl dont like it and so use ATi Tray Tools for all their settings as you don't need the .NET framework etc..., and it isn't a system hog, all you gota do is download the display driver from ATi site on its own, then grab ATi Tray Tools from Guru3D, install the display driver, install ATi Tray Tools thats it your away, or just grab the Omega drivers, or the NGO's which are 3rd party drivers based on the officials, all you gota do is install them and yer away.

Hope you like your Nvidia card.

So this is what I should do when I install my card on a newly built rig, I don't like the sound of this CCC thing, looks way over the top, I like the basics.

Yeah if you don't want the CCC, .NET etc... either just grab Omegas etc... or just get the display driver on its own from the ATi site, about 11mb, and grab ATi Tray Tools, does the same as the CCC, but doesnt need all the bloatware .NET etc... installed, and ATi Tray Tool's is only 1mb, so thats 12mb rather than 40+ if you get the full CCC package, and your still using the Official Drivers as you got the Display Drivers from the ATi site on their own.

ATi Tray Tools is here :)

Install the Display Drivers, then install ATi Tray Tools, voila get gaming.

If you want the CCC, then do as quoted above by Rob43. :)
