** NVIDIA RTX 30 SERIES (3090 / 3080 / 3070) NOW ONLINE AT OcUK **

I've cancelled my zotac trinity preorder after buildzoid absolutely slated it as the cheapest and worst vrm pcb and power delivery of the cards, not sure what to pre order instead or whether to even bother at the moment

I think the point is that money was taken when a) there wasn't any stock and b) no idea when there will be any stock. There was no indication that current stock levels were depleted when I placed my order and handed over my cash - yet OCUK knew that their stock would go within minutes. Yet they continued to take money whilst (at least for my sale) the website said shipping September 23rd - and not 'Pre order'. So OCUK have my money, without any idea as to when they can fulfil my order. This year, next year? If I had known they had ran out of stock, I would likely have tried somewhere else. But as they took my money, I (clearly wrongly) assumed that I'd managed get one from stock.

They stated "We therefore suggest you keep your place in the queue to avoid future disappointment." - which roughly translated means 'If you look for a refund, you'll be waiting longer, although we're not going to tell you where you are in the queue or how long you might have to wait anyway'. That's my take.
My opinion is that they know at least how long it's going to be before they can even start to fulfil orders, but they don't want to tell us, as that may just lead to those refunds if we realise that it's going to tale a long time. If they tell us it'll be a very long time, and we get refunded, we may not go back to OCUK when stock is flowing. I can't see any other reason why they won't tell us where in the queue we are so that we can make that 'refund or wait' decision. They've already stated "Your order is in a queue and we will fulfil orders on a strict first come, first served basis." so they have a queue, so I want them to tell me where in the queue I am so I can decide.. I know that doesn't mean that will miraculously make the cards turn up any quicker - but we'd be able to make a decision.

I find it very suspect when money is taken without stock. If it was a pre-order, you shouldn't be charged until the stock as arrived - but I guess if they did that, you might pre-order elsewhere - and if they got stock first, they would lose the sale. To me, this is anti-consumer behaviour.

As for those that complain that people are getting upset about this situation...tough. It's everyone's right to feel upset and annoyed when they have a large sum of money has been taken from their account with no clue as to when they will see the goods they paid for. If you're happy with that situation, then that is absolutely your right - as it's the right of people not to be happy about it.

I don't think OCUK are 100% to blame for this, Nvidia should take the lion share of that. But I feel that OCUK have compounded a very frustrating situation.

Theoretical question. Let’s say after the Big Navi launch NVIDIA and it’s partners drop the prices of the 3080 10Gb in order to compete with a potentially cheaper alternative, and my card that I’ve ordered is still on pre-order. Would OC drop the price I’ve paid but not received a card yet or would I have to cancel and reorder?

Once you have pre-ordered you are locked to that price. You would need to cancel and re-order.

Full watercooling loop 3 x 360 rads in an 011dynamic xl with 10900k 5.2ghz so water-cooled and some overclocking
Sounds like a sweet setup. I'm guessing you were hoping that the base 3080 models weren't going to be stripped of their headroom potential instead of a better binned/PCB'd more expensive model. :(

ahhh I just saw the video and looked at other reviews.!

also the zotac is like £750 and for around that price I’d rather go with ASus or Msi
Yeah, at the moment the Zotac is no way competitive with the lower priced TUF at least. Not sure on the MSI Ventus - I've seen posts that it performs the same as the Zotac (FE minus 1-3%) which could mean the same reference power stage setup.

Yeah I was hoping like the 20 series I could get a mid priced A chip with just a blower cooler to use for watercooling. It seems the only two cards that are not held back are the FTW3 and STRIX which are both over £800 and £800 is my absolute budget really as I need to grab a waterblock as well

Blower type cards were released for the 20 series much later after the original release so with patience the 3xxx series might have the same. I cant see the current line up being all thats on offer at this early stage.

Asus released their 2080ti OC blower card at launch which was my go to card with the A chip and overclocked as good if not better than strix version.

My issue is at the moment there is nothing really any good in the 700 to 800 range

How long does it usually take to get refunded? I put in for it last night but I never received an email or a change in order status.

Seeing as it's the Weekend (Sunday where I am at least) I probably won't expect any business related response in regards to customer support until Monday the earliest. I also put in a refund for my order but seeing as it's the weekend I'm not expecting a reply until tomorrow.

AMD will steal the show

I'll obviously keep an open mind until folks have gotten whatever they're offering in hand and tested it all ... but even if they hit 3080 levels of performance, and can do so a bit cheaper ... unless they've also got an answer to DLSS and the huge performance gains that can give, and maybe also RTX I/O (that I'm hopeful about from what little we've seen), aaaand have a good way to assure there'll not be tons of driver problems this time ... then I can't see myself being tempted ... though I'll almost certainly hold off until the situation is super clear about what's what and there's independent benchmarks of it all.

Yeah thats the problem - due to the price gouging. Not going to pay £100 over the odds for a worse card compared to the others. If it was £650 then I would have no issues as its cheap for a reason. When you can get a much better card for £750 I would frankly just wait.

I thought the 30 series would be a good generation to build my 1st PC around but it looks like the project has stalled before it got out the blocks (for now!) i do feel the pain of all those who have been left thoroughly disappointed.
This kind of excitement and anticipation required a satisfying payoff at the end and when it doesn't come that can be truly crushing... i'm sure everyone including the guys at OC can relate to this but right now the absolute best place for the vast majority of the people who truly want that card as soon as possible is in the queue but prepare yourselves for a long wait!
Vent your frustration here for now (we empathise) but be warned it does look ugly!
