NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - OFFICIAL PRE-ORDER THREAD!

The more I read the more I think I might just relax and grab one in March when all the cards have been released and tested. I've waited this long, a few more months won't kill me.
What’s the cut off point though?

I mean if you still can’t get them in March how long do you leave it before just waiting until the 6000 series?

I wonder what the worst launch has been for people in terms of waiting to obtain a GPU.

The worst launch (in all graphics card history) was without a doubt Ampere. Stock was depleted in about 30 seconds on launch across the line up, and it was very slow to replenish.

I somehow got two 3080s at launch, but I know people who were waiting 3-4 months for a card. Demand, due to crypto and people stuck at home, was through the roof. Worse, if you hadn't preordered and just waited for stock, prices were jacked up high enough to set your face on fire.

This one I imagine. 3000 series wasn't that bad on release plus the few months after it. Was after that when crypto took off that they all disappeared and price spiked.

I'm not sure which launch you followed, but the 3000 series was literally the worst as far as supply and stock goes in 30 years.

I dunno about that, weren't some people waiting for months for their "within 10min of launch" orders to be delivered? Nevermind anyone who came later.

I think there's something to be said that the launch stock for the 5090 easily seems to be the worst, the 40 series and 30 series had a lot more available day one. However I'm not massively of the opinion it has that much demand either compared to say the 30 series. I think theres quite a few people on older cards wanting to upgrade, but I don't think people are frothing at the mouth for it like they might have with some of the previous gen improvements. The 30 series had loads of excitement due to the price, the 3080 at £650 looked like an absolute steal compared to everything thats came after, so despite day one stock being kind of okay, there was just not enough stock coming in to cover the demand.

3000 series was a joke at launch and for months afterwards, unless you spent your life looking out for stock alerts.

And this release is predicted to be even worse in terms of supply. God help us!

You must have been really lucky to bag two of them. Did you need both or did you help a friend in need (with a little interest of course)?

What moon were you on? The 3000 series release was dreadful... re-sellers had back orders for months.
Idk I managed to get a 3080 for me (on release) and my sister (on a post release retailer drop) plus switched to a 3080 FE from an Nvidia drop then eventually upgraded to a 3090 FE from an Nvidia drop all before the end of December after release. Plus I cancelled my 40 odd minute into the queue order of an EVGA 3080 here that would've also delivered by the end of the year according to that queue. Also remember 3090 FE drops sitting for a day or two for 2 or 3 drops before the end of December too.

Are we likely to know the prices of the different cards before 2pm on Thursday?

Edit - Halliphax beat me to it

My work bud and I had a pact to both try for two, if one of us failed, and the other got two, sell the extra at cost to the other -- and this is what I did.

I think I’ll be holding off for a while. I was underwhelmed with the reviews of the 5090 anyway - but just did my and my wife’s tax returns today.

I did my return first, and I’m due a small rebate of just under £3K, and I thought to myself, that’ll do nicely and pay for a 5090.

Then did my wife’s tax return - and she has a liability of just over £16K! Doh! I think that nice shiny graphics card is going to have to wait - not a massive hardship, having to run an ‘old’ 4090 for a while yet. The FOMO is subsiding a little…
