Paypal will always side with the buyer and will force you to pay for the buyer's return postage to you. Whether you get the same item you sold back, or in the same condition, is another story.

If you refuse, paypal can simply take the money from your bank and the buyer then doesn't even have to return it to you.

Plenty of examples on reddit if you search for "buyer requesting refund via paypal after 6 months)" etc.

I recently sold an item for quite a bit on ebay( not a gpu ) and the buyer put a claim in with paypal to say they don't recognise the transaction. Paypal asked me to provide proof of signed delivery and within 7 days I had all my money back/ off hold. Weird how they didn't put a claim through Ebay but went straight to paypal but as said paypal took my side as I provided what they asked :)

i swear paypal isnt a thing on the bay anymore

btw paypal is the no1 worst company on trust pilot
 
Ah happy days , I've moved up a whole position in the Astral queue, now #121 ... just need lots more to lose their grip :cry:

I've noticed they have now made all this pre-order / price changing in bold on their site now ... would have been somewhat useful if they put this information up before purchasing the item... seems very shady to me :rolleyes:

Yeah can only pay with PayPal now as a buyer , as a seller Ebay now take care of your funds direct to bank and no longer deal with Paypal .

In this case PayPal were actually decent and didn't screw me over .

It's not just "shady" it's legally indefensible, almost laughably so.
 
Was wanting to grab an RTX 5080 FE on launch day but had no luck, still pondering pre-ordering but since moving my 3070 into this new build I'm seeing better performance so I think I'll just wait until things calm down since I'm seeing a good uplift from having a better CPU than a 3600 so no real rush now thought after covid these launches would get better

At least they have a position system now, you are no longer in the dark.

I am no. 45 for my Zotac 5080, started at no. 47.
 
Whole load of gumf added to the 5090 page on competitors website this morning about factors that could lead to a price change. Looks like they’re setting the scene for one when 5090s start to come in. I’m not sure on the legality of it (I read the other comments on this thread) but I assume this is more to cover themselves for folks that are further down in the queue who may not receive it for a few months.

Can’t be bothered having a battle with them over it if it’s a small amount but if they’re taking the pee with a rise on mine then I may just pay it and go to war :D. Position 16 on Aorus Master.

I mean regardless of legality it's going to put people off from ordering from them in the future if it happens.

If this was the case they should have had it clearly mentioned on the pages when people were ordering. Instead of luring people in with a price they potentially can't keep.

Even then I think they just shouldn't have taken that many orders if the price for them was truly uncertain or only take deposits instead of full amounts.

I was surprised about how long they kept pre orders going. It was most of the day,.

The popular auction site always take the side of the buyer, it's just not worth it for expensive items IMO.

As the auction site uses paypal - paypal offer 180 days refund (6 months) and will always take the side of the buyer.

If getting scammed by someone and I've used Paypal and I put a dispute in with PP, then PP side with me and I'm due a refund, who actually pays me my money back if that scammer has already withdrawn his funds? PP or the scammer?
Only asking as it happened to me (on a low price item) and I'd quite like the scammer to have to pay me back instead of PP funding it so he didn't get away with it :)

Members market prices tend to be higher than CEX, if you continue to post on these forums you'll gain access to that. It will take some time to build up a good reputation, though is worth it if you're into PC hardware etc for the long run.
