NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I think Nvidia made it worse by making 40 series end of line 6 months before the 50 series, thats why 50 series sold out, a terrible move by a company that has market share, they taking advantage
EOL the 40 series 6 months before even starting 50 series production starting to create a shortage. Shift that 6 months of production into to AI then have desperate people paying well over MSRP when gaming cards do finally arrive.

I'm up to 107, up 2 today on the 5090 zontac solid, up 9 since we could see the queue.

Hopefully it speeds up a bit.

Are 5080s their own thing and 5090s eat into data centre production?
5090 are a cut down die (21760 out of the possible 24576 shaders), so it's possible full dies are going elsewhere, and only "defective" dies are being used for 5090.

Whereas the 5080 is a smaller die, but is fully utilised (10752/10752 shaders)

it will

a lot of people will cancel out becuase they dont want to wait, thats what happened with the 30 series, but ppl will start to drop of in about 3-6 weeks, also a lot of ppl will go elsewhere, remember most pre-orderes are on credit cards and ppl will pay the interest whilst the retailer make interest on the pre-order money

Anyone made progress on the MSI Suprim 5090 queue? I've been 99 since Thursday

Interestingly enough MSI is not on this specific retailers "verified suppliers" list (on their daily 5090 update section). Only the following are: ASUS • Palit • Zotac • PNY • Gigabyte

Maybe this means they get less MSI stock, or that MSI is simply not communicating with them about when stock will arrive etc.

I'm 39th for the suprim (air cooled version) I haven't moved either.

Nvidia make more money on professional cards vs gamer cards, a 5090 equivalent in a professional GPU sell for £5000 vs $2000, I can remember when the Ada60000 came out, it was 5k, then you have a complete quadro line up to datacentre environments, yeah gamers are less priority but also a lot of business use gamer cards for their professional workstations

I suspect it'll be radio silence for a few weeks and then boom, a big batch of cards delivered at once.

Suprim (air cooled) is worth waiting for IMO, even if MSI is not a vendor they have a good relationship with.

what time did u place ur pre-order?

This launch is different from 30 series in the respect that there will be virtually no stock coming in on the 5090 for likely a month and a half now. I have a feeling people who preordered know that it's super unlikely any other option will spring up. Moreowver, people who have enough money to spend £2500 on a discretionary video game toy likely have the wherewithal to sit tight and not need those funds for rent/mortgages/important stuff (well, at least you'd hope so). And who on God's green would put this on a credit card if they knew they couldn't immediately pay it off?

For the 30-series, the queues were constantly reducing, but I think that's largely because stock was turning up elsewhere. Not the case for a long while with 5090, unfortunately.

16:06. I had to call to get the order through via paypal, as my bank was declining the payment due to suspicious activity

If not for that I think I would have been in the top 10 of the queue, as I was in the queue on the phone for ~20 mins

Your card is probably on the conveyer belt as we speak. This video shows their state of the art factory, where "manpower is reduced by 50%".

"An MSI graphics card is produced every 2 seconds" - gives me hope

My opportunistic panic-bought MSI Gaming Trio 5080 has just shipped from a competitor, but I've had it on good authority that the number of pre-orders for the 5090 (Zotac Infinity) via OCUK was very small before they closed it so as to not have people waiting months. I managed to secure a pre-order slot, so now I'm wondering what to do.....I don't NEED a 5090....but no-one really needs a 5090 anyway. Official line from OCUK is still 3-13 weeks.....
