NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

My opportunistic panic-bought MSI Gaming Trio 5080 has just shipped from a competitor, but I've had it on good authority that the number of pre-orders for the 5090 (Zotac Infinity) via OCUK was very small before they closed it so as to not have people waiting months. I managed to secure a pre-order slot, so now I'm wondering what to do.....I don't NEED a 5090....but no-one really needs a 5090 anyway. Official line from OCUK is still 3-13 weeks.....
I pre-ordered the 5090 Zotac Solid, mixed feelings about going for that over the Infinity. Infinity looks much nicer, but also cost £360 more here. Still going to try my luck getting an FE while waiting for it to ship.

Really don't understand why people are getting so excited over these cards. I'd normally be a natural 5090 punter, but sticking with my 4090FE until team green release a flagship on a smaller node.
Since getting back into gaming I've gone: Titan X (Maxwell) > Titan XP > 2080ti > 3090 > 4090. Kinda glad the 5090 was meh, means I get to skip all this nonsense for once.
I went R9 290X > 980Ti > 3080. Was considering 5080 this time, but decided to throw a bit more cash at a 5090 and hope that keeps me happy for a couple of generations lol.

Wait... I've just checked my mail and DPD sent me a 'we are awaiting your Overclockers parcel' notification. I was a bit confused, but at 17:09 Overclockers mailed to say my MSI 5090 Suprim Liquid OC had been dispatched?! Yeah, bit shocked myself tbh... I mean, I've not seen anyone posting about any 5090 dispatches from OC, let alone the Suprim Liquid. I just came here to check if there was a mass drop or something, but doesn't seem so.

Not sure what to say to be honest, I was expecting to be waiting for months. Anyway, thought I should post and let you know things are moving (or did move on the Suprim 5090 Liquid at least)... sorry if that's a dick move given the circumstances :(

I so hope that's correct, I'm still rocking my 6700xt - so really looking forward to the uplift the 5090 should give :D

I see even media take now ocuk stock info as news, especially the up to 16 weeks of wait for 5090 delivery... Ouch, this is not different from pandemic shortages, but even higher prices. :/
If we're only going to get 20 months use or less out of a £2500 card before a die shrink, I'm starting to think it's not worth bothering

I'll be keeping my 4090 for at least another two years and possibly beyond.

Top of the line GPU's costing up to 3 grand or more is getting beyond ridiculous.

Nvidia isn't going to give performance away for free, higher manufacturing costs and only competing with itself won't be good IMO.

TSMC are opening 3nm plants in the US so they will cost more to produce.
I imagine a big uplift on the 90 series with a big uplift in price (at least +500).

Rest of the stack +10% gen on gen with a side benefit of them running cooler, less power hungry due to being on the new node.

what time did u place ur pre-order?
well i placed my pre-order within a few seconds of becoming live, for a MSI liquid 5090 for 2650

Then I thought about it and realised it was not what I wanted, I then called in and stated I wanted to change it to an air cooled card, they said no and that I couldnt re-order if I cancelled, I cancelled it as the card had a 360 attached to it, ive already got a 420 for my CPU, then reordered a amp extreme, not many of those are popular, I think the Asus cards were most wanted, Zotac is one of the least wanted
